Catalan sports paper Sport claims that Barcelona wing attacker Pedro (21 - picture) and Barcelona polyvalent defender and midfielder Víctor Sánchez (20) will be offered a contract renewal soon.
Although the players didn't ask anything, Barcelona sports director Txiki Begiristain plans to meet later this month with their representatives to start the negotiations.
Pedro and Víctor Sánchez were this summer promoted to the first team (read more here) which makes a change of some contract conditions a logical step. The paper adds that the two could still play some matches with Barcelona Atlètic this season if they don't get enough playing time with the first team.
Víctor Sánchez currently has a contract until 2011, while the contract of Pedro, who is representented by sports agency Bahía International, expires in the summer of 2010.

someone tell me if sanchez is naturally left-footed so he can play left-back?
He's not naturally left-footed but he play left back. And right back. But just as an emergency solution.
thanks, i thought he was a natural left-back.my worry is all our young defenders are right-footed. i don't know what will happen next season. may be we could get a young and powerful left-back and left winger may be from the B team
The current lef back defender of the B team -Espasandin- is not really seen as "first team material", so you shouldn't count on an immediate solution there.
We had Fernando Navarro though...
thanks pep for your help. may you tell me a bit about pedro whether he is a natural left winger or if he can even play there at all?
i dont sanchez would be used as a left back but as a mildfielder.so anonymous why do worry on the issue of a left full back?is abidal not up to the task?or is sylvinho not good as a back up?thou for me i would hav eprefer we get some one more younger and experience than sylvinho{not from the B team}but i thought abidal is very good as aleft full back
Pedro is really a natural winger (the only one in our squad actually), he can play both left and right. His main quality is his speed.
i trust in abidal for now but looking at our future team based on young guys messi,bojan,pedro,sanchez,pique,caceres...i thought we could be with someone to help us by next year when sylvinho might be gone.keeping in mind that getting qality left-backs is so difficult
Even though Abidal's been less than impressive so far during his time with the club I'm willing to give him another chance, and hopefully having a year under his belt will prove beneficial. If you stop and think about it he really didn't have that bad of as start last season. Yes, he tailed off during the second half of the season but then again most of the team - particularly the defense did as well so it would be unfair to single him out.
It's not so much a problem of finding a quality left back on the market. Rather finding one that will actually play defense is the hard part. Emanuelson and Clichy are possible options but Emanuelson in particular poses a much greater offensive threat, but his defense is lagging. The thought of him and Alves agressively moving up the flank might sound tempting but consider how exposed that would make the central midfield. That's asking an awful lot for Puyol and Marquez/Caceres to cover up for the fullbacks "mistakes". It also exposes the full backs to counters as well. So finding a sound "defensive" minded left full back will be no easy task. And with Alves's agressive, offensive mindset I would rather have a defensive left back playing opposite him rather than another offensive minded player. That's just my opinion.
Abidal's marking on Numancia's goal was abysmal though. It was he who left Mario(the leagues lowest payed player) open.
