Spanish football blog Futbolitis claims that, with the Arshavin and Silva options losing power, Fluminense left winger and Brazilian international Thiago Neves (23) is Barcelona's top target to replace Ronaldinho.
Thiago Neves, who has been selected to take part in the Olympic Games next month, would cost around 10 million euro°. The contract of the Brazilian attacker, who is represented by the Doppelpass agency, expires in December 2010.

Well youtube never give the perfect indications but for what i saw there he seems to be the kind of explosive player with goal hunger...if so then thats my favorite
I don't know why he remind me of Cristiano ronaldo (technically)...may be his running style or free kicks...
if he is for 10M then he may be a better gamble than the 27 years arshevin...i never followed them enough so i cant tell.

2 days ago zenit had been played againts spartak nalchik. zenit lost in petersbourg 4-3. arshavin was like a chiken. zero.

I always said that arshavin is a big gamble, even a higher risk than keeping ronaldihno for one more year and try to turn him back to form (even if its not the best option either)

if arshavin cost over 15M then i prefer to go for silva spending 25M (at least he know Spanish and young enough to improve), i said it before and lot of emotional fans on this blog punched me for that:)

This guy can never replace Ronaldinho.
We have Messi to replace Ronaldinho, so we now should kind of look for someone who can replace Giuly.
Things are finally moving in smarter direction. For 10M €, I doubt that there is a better option, even if transfer price rises to 12-13 M €. Thiago Neves is undisputed potential and mature enough to play abroad. Interest of Man Utd and Milan is not unjustified and Thiago indeed seems like a true potential.
He is tall, strong and covers two positions that we truly lack - AMF and LW. Good passing game, excellent shot and pace seem to be his main attributes. He utilizes his both legs and his free kicks always look dangerous. Way to go for Barca.
Unlike Silva, he contributes Barca's weak points - goal scoring from midfield, height and heading.
Needles to say, dribbling skill seems to be serial equipment with all Brazilian players, even regardless of position.
One more advantage - TN would accept bench role much easier than Silva.
Some might say that Silva is better but in Thiago i see much more potential and he comes twice cheaper.
Unfortunately for Barca, the board's disasterous condition may prevent any new signings.
This guy looks better than both Arshavin and Silva so why wasn't he ahead of them in the first place????

why we dont buy VDV and Huntelaar??? VDV can play as AML or MC so he can give us better options and Huntelaar is deadly attacker with great finishing! I hope someone is reading this...

anonymous you've been playing to much football manage.. Van der vaar would not be a good option.. He plays best in the centre , we already have four midfielders who like to play centrally. What we want in a left sided player is someone who can give us width.. hug the touchline a bit and put some good crosses in. It would be a waste to use vdv in this position.. and his speed is pretty average so I dont think he'd be very good as a left winger. Huntelaar is just as good as henry and bojan ( maybe a little better than 17 yr old bojan but not for long) I think guardiola really wants a big centre foward and huntelaar doesnt fit this profile

I'm not trying to take anything away from this lad, but I would just caution everyone who has exceedingly high expectations of him to realize that he has never been considered as Barcelona's fist option to begin with. If Barcelona though THAT highly of Neves they wouldn't have placed Silva or Arshavin as priority over him. And I don't believe I'm jumping to conclusions by stating that even if he were to eventually sign with Barcelona he is not going to be a first team player for the foreseeable future nor an overnight success. He could add more youth and depth to the bench but I wouldn't hold my breath at the prospects of him getting significant playing time this upcoming season. Of course this is all hypothetical assuming he signs with Barcelona.
Neves is the best talent that is not in Europe.He is a good dribbler but barcelona all are good dribblers(xavi,iniesta,messi,alves,...)
He is a very good goal scorer with his head and a very strong long distance scorer(scores large number of goals from free-kicks).He has very good passing skills.
If barcelona don't sign him soon,they will regret it because Man. Utd are close to signing him and a large number of clubs are willing to sign him.

Barcelona need a player who is not only top class but able to score(like rivaldo).
He would cost around 12 to 15 millions.But if C.Ronaldo transfers to R.madrid then Man. Utd will take him and his price will rise.very dangerous on the goal.He finds himself a space to shoot and scores.

may be alot of people who wroght the replies above didn'n see him playing , Well I did to be specific in two matches only that was the semi-finals of cope lepartadoris between Fluminese and Poca juniors "home and away" after wich fluminese get qualified to the finals I was concentrating on Palacio because as you remember at that time he was linked with a move to Barca,and my my openion is that Naves is that kind of player that you see him alot and all over the feild I remember the commentator keeped saying his name all over the match he is a promissing talent, he may become a world class but he is no way C Ronaldo or Ronei at least not this season so if he come in the fans should be patient which is so difficult for Barca fans I think.
Get him! Maybe he can be a hit like dinho where when he came the first season! His strong, good paste, excellent technique and a goal scorer! maybe he can solve the free kicks to.. For 10-15 mill euro he is worth trying out. Better option then both silva and arshavi because of their huge over-pricing. And their migits.
Oh man, Silva and Arshavin won't come. But it's gd to hear that Barca's going to attempt to purchase Neves, gd player. But surely can't replace Ronaldinho. He's not even better than Silva.
But at lease he can score...
