Yesterday eight of the seventeen board members have resigned. Barcelona president Joan Laporta stays on at least until the meeting of the general assembly in September.
From a transfer point of view (which is still the main focus of this blog), it's is incredibly worrying to see economic vice president Ferran Soriano and sports vice president Marc Ingla leave at such a crucial time in the transfer period since they were the two people who were dealing with all negotiations.

As I mentioned on this blog before the motion of reproof, the worst scenario will b if the motion failed to sack the board but graped over 50% to vote against the board. Now the worst scenario happened.
even though i am one of the people that believe its not fair for a board with all the achievements they brought to the club, to leave from the back door, but its needed to say that after the voting results the board need to resign.
Laporta mistake was that he didn't make a commitment that he will resign in august(perfect timing to resign)after building up the squad and making sure the team is on the right track to prepare for the next season, then elections take place.
if he did so, then i believe the other board members would not resign.
Ferran Soriano and Marc Ingla have presidential ambitions (may be not for the following elections anymore, but for future) so its understandable that they cant oppose the desire of the majority...its a shame how this successful cycle in the club history collapsed in such a pathetic way. A combination of lot of "little things/mistakes", ambitious power hanger, and unrealistic/unreasonable public demands bounced back as a fire ball on the beautiful face of this fantastic club...or more than a club.
what does this mean for the club? do we have to wait for replacements? i'm starting to wish the no confidence vote had succeded because the reason for not wanting it to was to maintain stability!
In the September general assembly at least four new board members will have to be approved.
The new strong guys in the board are now Joan Boix (replacing Soriano) and Rafael Yuste (replacing Ingla). Let's just hope they will step up to the responsibilty.
There are negotiations ongoing to create a new function, some kind of football director, who will be the link between Txiki Begiristain and Rafael Yuste.
Great. Txiki will still be around.
Even though I support Laporta's cause and admire his fight to continue pressing onward, I think we can all agree that he's reached the point of no return and should step down in a gracefull and dignified manner. There is no point in continuing to fight a losing battle, much less allow others to take the bullet for you. Sure he technically "won" (survived) the vote of no confidence against him, but the reality shows that he suffered a crushing defeat with irreparable damage. The longer Laporta continues to stay in power the more he is tarnishing his legacy with the club.
Laportas time is obviously drawing to a close and the knives are coming....
