Silva again left wing priority

Catalan sports paper El Mundo Deportivo claims that, with a transfer of Arshavin now being excluded, Valencia left winger and Spanish international David Silva (22) is again the top priority of Barcelona sports director Txiki Begiristain for the left wing position, although Barcelona is also working on other options.

The paper estimates the value of Silva, whose contract with Valencia expires in 2014, to be around 20 million euro°, which is considerably less than the 30 million euro° that Russian champions Zenit Saint Petersburg are asking for Arshavin, who is also five years older than the Valencia player.

Barcelona already contacted Silva before the European championships in Austria and Switzerland (read more here) and despite turning the attention later on to other players, they never definetely closed the Silva option. The Spanish winger is at this moment on holiday but wants to be informed about any development concerning his future.

20 million euros for Silva? In Txiki's dreams... We can be happy, if we get him for about 30 million euros...

30 million is crazy man. the does not score goals and doesn't give assists. get real 30m. iniesta is better than him. Does he make a big difference in barça? NO messi does. for that price ,we should get someone who has the ability to become a match winning player.

id love to see silva at barca. its not fair to judge some one who is still young with plenty of time to improve on a season with probably the only club to perform worst than us last season. judge him on euros and potential. my only problem is over inflated asking price, i think around 25 would be acceptable, then maybe use rest to get neves as backup. if we're going to pay over inflated price for some one would prefer silva to ade.

I wasn't impressed with his performances at Euro 08. Also, he's better solution for FCB than Hleb. He's 5Y younger and he has much more space to improve himself at Barca. This saga about Hleb coming or not is starting to annoying me. Barca should quit chasing him. Let him go to Bayern. R10 to Milan for 15M? Everyone undervalued him.

Valencia is reluctant to sell Silva, so we'll have to pay more than he is worth. Of course he's not worth 30m, be i think we won't get him for less... But I agree, it's better to pay more for Silva than Adebayor.

Another player who has seen his pricetag overinflated due to the Euro's. It's easy to look "good" when you are surrounded by guys like Torres, Villa, Fabregas, Iniesta, Xavi, etc. Silva's no "scrub" but it's nice to have the freedom to run around in open space when the defense already has their hands full trying to mark other players. And if you were to scrutinize Silva's overall performance further you would see that he had a ton of wasted opportunities on goal during the tournament. Again, even a blind squirrel is going to find a nut if given enough chances. You could have virtually "plugged" anyone in Silva's spot and they would have come out smelling like roses given the abundance of talent upfront.

I'm so happy that Silva's once again on barca's list. I love this player lots. But I won't recomend Barca to purchase him if they needed more than 30 mil euro to buy him. anyway, hope Silva will come in a reasonable price.
