Ghanaian right back Inkoom set for medical

Ghanaian newspaper The Daily Guide claims that Barcelona is planning the transfer of Asante Kotoko right back defender and Ghanaian youth international Samuel Inkoom (21).

Inkoom is ready to fly to Barcelona where he will undergo the medical tests prior to signing a professional contract.

The Barcelona techincal staff would like the style of play of Inkoom, especially his surging runs on the flanks.

Wtf? When did this happen? Never heard of this guy and all of a sudden he's going to do his medical? Is he going to be back-up for Alves?

Let's wait for confirmation from Spanish sources, but it sure would be a logical thing. Maybe they moved for this guy after Oleguer's exit (no real substitue in Atlètic).

It has been long time since Barca made a "scout and hunt" deal, if this is a real one with quality then...its my favorite deal, it may not be the most remarkable for the squad now but i am a fan of Deals like leverpool-skertile (or however u write it) , sevilla- Alvis (when it hapenned for half a million, caceress villareal and so on...hope this is one of it, but i think this guy trained with barca B already?or i mixed up players? anyway lets wait and c if there is any truth in this;)

Is barca or barca b?

The Ghanaian newspaper says "professional contract" and don't say anything on the B team, so you could expect (also given the fact that the guy is alrady 21) that he would come to join the first team.

SPORT nevertheless says he's going to the youth academy, but that seems just a wild guess since they don't have any other sources than the Ghanian newspaper and the latter doesn't mention that.

And to Ramzi: No he didn't train with Barcelona B yet. That was a guy called Ibrahim (defensive midfielder) who was testing but he seems to be out since he didn't play against Swansea yesterday.

Can't remember the last time Barcelona did a "smash and grab" on a player? It seems their is no veil of secrecy for big clubs these days in their attempts to move in on players covertly so this does seem like a surprise if there's any truth to it.

I have absolutely no idea who this lad is, but I wouldn't automatically assume he's going to stick with the first team. Barca may simply wish for him to train with the first team squad during the pre season to get his feet wet and then demote him to Barca Atletic.

This sounds like a real "Wenger" transfer. If it is this guy could be as good as Alves.
