Madrid sports tabloid Marca claims that the transfer of Barcelona forward and Cameroonian international Samuel Eto'o (27) would cost his new club 115 million euro°.
Barcelona is asking a transfer fee of 40 million euro° and with a new vote on his future coming up in a few weeks time, Barcelona president Joan Laporta is not willing to drop that initial asking price a lot.
Eto'o, who is currently earning 10 million euro gross and whose contract expires in 2010, would ask interested clubs a year salary of 15 million euro gross for the next five seasons.
The club and the player would have talked this week about his situation but both parties have asked for more time before a final decision is taken. This means that nothing has changed and that Eto'o is at this moment still on the market, like Barcelona has confirmed to several interested clubs over the last days.

This is a brutto salary, netto he has 6 mio euro.
Eto'o should stay until the end of his contract...thats all..
eto'o demands high salary because he knows that noo team will pay that amount for him.. hee simply want's to stay thats it.. unfortunately =(
i think we need some fresh legs..
There are only a handful of "realistic" destinations for Eto'o, by that I mean not only a club that can afford his transfer, satisfy his personal wage demands AND play competitive football in one of the top leagues in Europe, (i.e. that's a NO for Kuruvchi.)
So that pretty much leaves us with Chelsea, Real Madrid, and quite possibly Man U (should they transfer Ronaldo to Madrid.)
Madris is "out" for obvious reasons. Man U is also likely "out" because they prefer Berbatov and perhaps even Huntelaar over Eto'o.
So Chelsea are the only team left standing. As we've witnessed with their "efforts" to land players like Kaka, and Aguero, amoung others - money certainly is not a problem for them. Wage "structure" isn't either considering that I believe at last count John Terry was the highest paid player in the EPL.
Barcelona would be well served to tell Chelsea to keep their money and just send us Drogba and Malouda in return. Barcelona in effect kills two birds with one stone. No need to continue pursuing Villa or Arshavin because Malouda will be the new left winger, and Drogba takes over as the new number "9", at least for the next two seasons.
For all of you who think Malouda "sucks" keep in mind that he was never used "properly" at Chelsea. Don't forget that Malouda and Abidal had a nice partnership going during their time together at Lyon. A reunion might be just the tonic Malouda needs to get back on track.
