Arshavin first choice for left wing

Catalan sports paper El Mundo Deportivo claims that Barcelona is still working on the transfer of a left wing attacker.

Zenit Saint-Petersburg forward and Russian international Andrei Arshavin (27) would be the first option of the Barcelona technical staff. Valencia left winger Silva would be the alternative in case the transfer of Arshavin fails.

Zenit is at this moment asking a 25 million euro° fee for Arshavin but Barcelona is ready to wait and see how things will develop in the coming weeks. With the Russian attacker having the absolute wish to join Barcelona (read more here), the club expects that the Russian champions will drop their asking price in the end.

Zenit spokesperson Alexei Petrov said last week to Spanish news agency EFE that the Russian club didn't yet receive a satisfying offer but that the interested clubs can make a bid for the player until the official end of the transfer window on the 31st of August.

Finally some news about him. Well, to be honest, Silva didn't impressed at all at EC, but Arshavin was the leading Russian on the field. He'll become excellent signing. Maybe he is 4-5 years older, but he's versatile player and can be used wherever Guardiola wants. And with all his desire to join Barca... If the news about bid for Henry are true and if Barca sell him (to refuse 20M will be stupid) to ManUtd, Pavlyuchenko should be good choice for bench or starting role. I hope Eto'o staying and Henry off.

One day Silva is an absolute prioroty, the next day its Arshavin..then 2 days later its again Silva, one week later its Arshavin and the day after its again Silva...but then Silva is untouchable but will be sold for economic reasons. Of course that being only if a team pays a high transfer fee but Valencia doesn't want to sell him anyway, no matter what...

one day the striker is Adebayor, then the next day its Drogba, the next day its Trezeguet and then its Benzema and then its Villa and again its Trezeguet before Adebayor turns into an absolute priority of course at the same time they are discussing a swap for Eto'o and Drogba...

LOL...these tabloids drive me nuts with their garbage information.

anyway thanks Pep...your blog is great and its a lot of fun to read the rumors and stuff...but it is sickening how every day the media changes their opinion.

I BELIEVE IT WHEN I SEE IT.

thank God. hopefully this is true, and that the board makes it a priority.

No need to rush on Barcelona's end. Just continue to remain patient as Zenit slowly starts lowering their asking price for Arshavin. Nobody out there is going to splash 25mil on him so Barcelona can remain calm and let the process drag itself out.

As I've said before, if Zenit lowers their fee to 20mil then at that time Barcelona should be prepared to make a similar offer to Valencia for Silva - and then wait to see which player blinks first.

Get him instead of silva!! we need an attacker that can score goals, and produce assists and silva is not yet that kind of threat to the opposition defense.. Arshavin is up for the challenge, and with him messi and eto'o we will have the most feared attacking line in the world.

visca barcelona!!
