Asked about rumours linking Barcelona forward and Cameroonian international Samuel Eto'o (27) with a summer move to his club, new Valencia sports vice president Fernando Gómez Colomer has said today in an interview with Valencia regional radio station La 97.7 Radio that the player could be an option if one of the Valencia key players would leave:
"The arrival of Eto'o is a possibility but everything will depend on what will happen with our squad next month. If David Villa or David Silva would leave the club, then Eto'o or someone with the same characteristics could be an option. If those circumstances aren't there, it will be almost impossible to sign a player like Eto'o."

Well at least we know a swap deal for either Silva or Villa won't work. Eto'o for Silva is a joke, and Valencia would ask for Eto'o plus cash for Villa which is just as foolhearty.
One possibility is if Real Madrid sign Villa and that creates a vacant spot for Eto'o to join Valencia. Although I just don't see Valencia splashing 25-30mil on anyone, let alone Eto'o. Maybe Barca would have to sell him on the cheap, say, 20mil for Valencia to accept. And then of course it would mean Barca would have to go out and purchase another striker, -who, for around similar amount of money - wouldn't come close to matching Eto'o's skill level or talent. Pavlyuchenko comes to mind, he can be had for around 15mil or so, but he's viewed as a sub, or in nicer words, a "situational" striker.
Dream on Valencia. They can't afford his wage demands.

Good point. If Valencia are going to have a "fire sale" there is no way they could afford nor justify Eto'o's personal wages.
good we might swap him for villa he is a legand
I agree with the comments above on his wage demands. Valencia can't afford him. Plus, I don't think Barca hierarchy is dumb enough to sell him to another team in the league. If he leaves, it will be to the Premiership or somewhere very obscure.
Agreed with KluivertsBoots. The last thing we need is him coming back to haunt us whenever we play los Che.

Don't be so sure about that. Nothing suprises me anymore when it comes to decisions this board takes.
And yeah, he would be back and haunt us. Just remember what he did to Real Madrid when he was at Mallorca.
I think the biggest chance to let Eto'o go on a swap deal is with Drogba if Drogba really push Chelsea. I read somewhere that Drogba wanna play with his compatriot Yaya. Chelsea can afford Eto'o's wage demand.
why we are even trying to sel him? i dont understand the club tactics..they have not gone after any central striker, and they are encouraging offers for eto'o, henry?
