Valencia puts Villa and Silva for sale

Valencia regional newspaper Las Provincias claims that Valencia will put for sale Valencia forward and Spanish international David Villa (27) and Valencia left winger and Spanish international David Silva (23) in the summer.

New Valencia CEO Javier Gómez said last week at a press conferecne that the club is now looking at all options to deal with the bad financial situation of the club: "The situation is very delicate. We'll have to reduce the spending, especially regarding the squad, and we'll have to sell assets. We will do what is necessary."

The paper says that the club has decided that Villa and Silva will be put for sale at the end of the current season, but that they won't sell on the cheap. Valencia hopes that there will be a bid race for both the left winger and the striker and the club plans to sell to the highest bidder.

The main Catalan sports papers El Mundo Deportivo and Sport both claim that Barcelona is closely monitoring the events as both players are on the club's wish list. Sport claims that Barcelona sports director Txiki Begiristain is more in Silva and that Villa is only an option if Eto'o would leave.

Asked about the new rumours, Silva said in an interview with Valencia regional television channel Canal 9 that he didn't hear anything from the club yet: "I'm a club player and I will always look at the interests of myself and of the club. I didn't here anything so far and if the club wants to tell me something, they will have to talk with me."

if you asked me last year i would say go for silva, but now i would prefer ribery for the left flank. its not like there isnt room for silva and ribery here together( out henry hleb and guddy...). also those games where we played last 2 months shows we need more squad depth, and more rotation for the players to rest.
its good to have young players in the squad (pedro, vasquez),a part of the first team.but if you dont use them the team loses 2 players for rotation, the other players rest less and there are problems.

my transfers for a perfect summer would be in:asenjo, lahm, silva, ribery, benzema
out:jorquera, pinto, sylvinho, guddy, hleb, henry, eto(except if he agrees in a new contract"which i doupt"then we should sell him, else remove benzema from the in list)

Ribery should be our top transfer target for the summer.

Silva should be the next option, and Villa the first option should Eto'o decide to move on. so there's a chance we could go for both of them, but that would be a great deal of money.

Why don't they try 4-2-3-1 or 4-2-2-2??

for this to happen(I'm devil),the team should load off:
Valdes,jorquera,Sylvinho,Toure(selling him to Manchester city),Gudi,Hleb(to Bayern munich),Henry.

Bojan loaned to whatever.

in:Silva,Ribery,Villa,Asenjo,Cech,Lahm.

--------Cech------
Alves--Pique-Puyol--Lahm
(Puyol--Pique-Marquez-Abidal)

--------Xavi---Iniesta-----
---(Busi---------Keita----)

-Ribery------Messi------Silva

----------Eto'-------
(-------Villa--------)

Interesting point skanjos.

Its true that one of the reasons the squad looks short on depth is because Guardiola has refused to use players like Pedro and Bojan. We are not rotating between more than 17 players at present and this includes Pinto, Guddy, Hleb. I would much rather see us use Pedro than give Hleb more opportunities and Bojan should really have been given his league start a while back.

As much as I like both Silva and Ribery, we have Henry and he has been very good this season.

That said, he aint getting any younger... We need a replacement. But we have to understand, Henry does not wish to become a supersub. He might, but I think it is a longshot. Besides that, its not the way we should handle a player after such a good season. We either sell him, convince him to start from the bench or we keep him one more season.

Having both Silva and Ribery is impossible. Once again, impossible. Silva might be young still but he wont accept a role like the one Hleb currently occupies. He wont move unless he is a starter. Ribery is a star, one of the best wingers in the world. That guy wont come if Silva joins us. He might come if Henry accepts a "degradation" in squad status.

Both options require that Henry either take a step back or leave...

Those are our choices

To sell Henry or play him as a supersub are not the only options. Henry has played really good this season, and we could play him as our first CF if Eto'o leaves and get Benzema. Than Benzema could rotate with Henry untill he gets ready to be our first striker. This option would be expensive though. So, if we get Ribery or Silva, we play Henry as our first striker and get a backup or Benzema for the future - and the 2010/2011 season we get a new worldclass CF and Henry could be our supersub.

the current Barca team is very very good.they are gelling together now.there are signs of unity in the team. They look like group of friends. Why do the club buy a good player unnecessarily.
I still have desire that Barca buy Ribery(or Silva, any one)and let bojan grow. And that will do.

yeah..
one amazing left winger (ribery/silva)
one solid left back
(zhirkov)
one promising goalkeeper
(asenjo)
thats it..

and people going out may include guddy, sylvinho, caceres (on loan)

Yep I agree on Harsh on this. We don't need huge changes. I would go after Cech though as my first option for GK.
