Algerian sports paper Le Buteur claims that Barcelona player Eric Abidal wants to obtain the Algerian nationality.
Abdelkrim Touahria, the consul general of Algeria in Lyon, has confirmed to the paper that he recently received the visit of Hayet Kebir, the Algerian wife of Abidal, asking information on her husband's chances to obtain the Algerian citizenship.
The consul explained that the general rule is that a person should live for at least three years in Algeria, although he didn't exclude that an exception could be made.
