Oleguer presented in Amsterdam

Former Barcelona defender Oleguer Presas (28) has today been presented as new player of Dutch club Ajax Amsterdam.

At a press conference, Ajax manager Marco van Basten showed his satisfaction with the transfer: "We are very happy with this arrival. Oleguer is an excellent defender with a lot of experience. We see him in the first place as a solid player to strengthen are back line. Because of his experience in the Spanish League and in the Champions League we also hope he can lead our younger players."

Oleguer made clear that it has been an easy choice for him: "The sporting plans of the club and the new manager are very attractive. Besides that, Amsterdam is a great city and I heard good stories from Gabri. Ajax was certainly my best option. I will do what I can to help the team. We should live from game to game and in the end we will hopefully be able to look back on a good season."

Thank goodness he is gone. He was terrible last season. Anything over 1 million would have been a good deal. Valdes should also go. He has been terrible the last 2 seasons. I can't understand how these guys have stayed at the club so long.

u stupid moron...u r not a b of barca fan...dumbass fuck..u r a glory hunter..a person who suport the team just because of players..not the team...talking that kind of stuff about two catalan born players is disgrace...they would give anithing to barca..not like soome players who comes to barca just for money and glory....have some respect for them....

No the first guy is right. Both those players should be sold. Valdes has not had a good two seasons. Yes it is important the club retains Catalan players but they must be of high standard to warrant a first team place. The environment at Barca is political but some of Valdes mistakes cost us games last season and this must not be ignored. To the second post, GET YOUR HEAD OUT OF THE SAND! If you want titles get the right players and balance.

i think what makes barca 'more than a club' is the fact that they are loyal to players from the youth ranks. the squad was nearly half made up of players from the academy, more than any other top euro team. i think it would be much sweeter to win stuff with home grown talent than just buying success, i think the first and third anon are supporting the wrong team, you should be madrid or chelsea fans.

Oli probably loves Barça more than anyone on the team right now, including Puyol. He may not be the greatest player to ever wear the blaugrana shirt, but he's still one of my all-time favourites. And people seem to forget we won the CL with him as a regular.
