Catalan sports paper Sport claims that Barcelona and Real Madrid are both interested in signing Lyon forward and French international Karim Benzema (20) .
Real Madrid is wanting to transfer a top class striker for a while and would now have turned to Benzema.
Madrid representatives would have called twice with Lyon but Barcelona sports director Txiki Begiristain is already working longer on the case which gives Barcelona the advantage at this point.

The one that will be smiling all the way is Lyon. It will inflate the price of Benzema even further with Madrid and Barca interested, not to mention Manu is interested as well.
If we could get Benzema, that would be amazing. He is an incredible player... I'd kick out Henry and bring Benzema. He can play both as left wing and as an attacker... And of course, Eto'o should stay.
Why not include Henry in the deal? I'm sure that would allow Lyon to "sell" this deal better to their fans.
Everyone needs to stop getting their panties in a bunch. Aulas isn't going to make an about face and seel Benzema anytime soon. Barcelona have seemingly backed off because Aulas has rebuffed their every attempt and has made it crystal clear that Benzema's not going anywhere this summer.
While Madrid may be lining up to offer the moon to Ronaldo I don't see them doing the same for Benzema. And it's pretty much going to take the moon to get him at this point! And if Aulas has dug his heels in even a bid of 50mil still might not be enough to pry Benzema from his clutches.
The best thing Barcelona can do at this point is remain patient, and let Aulas make the next move. I doubt Aulas would automatically sell Benzema to Madrid without at least allowing Barcelona the opportunity to match. So it's not like Madrid are going to steal Benzema from under Barcelona's noses.
This summer it's not possible, but next summer we should give it a real try and, like someone said, including Henry in the deal would then be a good idea.
This is why I am glad that decisions are not left up to the fans! Eto'o and Henry for Benzema. A man that has not proven himself, yes, but in the French division. In big matches, both domestically and internationally, he has not shown that he can cope with the pressure of being the top player. Therefore, I feel trading two players for one that may not be able to produce week-in, week-out is just crazy.
