Valdes on Tottenham list

Catalan sports paper El Mundo Deportivo claims that Tottenham is interested in Barcelona goal keeper Víctor Valdés (26) (read more here).

Valdés would perfectly fit the profile that Tottenham is looking for. The English Premier League club would already have contacted the Catalan goal keeper to sound him out on a possible move. Tottenham would not yet have talked with Barcelona.

Tottenham manager Juande Ramos is not satisfied with the performances of first-choice Paul Robinson and will bring in a new goal keeper this summer. The negotiations with Espanyol Barcelona goal keeper Carlos Kameni were cancelled because of the salary demands of the Cameroonian international.

As much as I would prefer for Valdes to leave I don't think it would be wise to let him go unless you have a guaranteed replacement for him. Even if Barcelona sign Diego Alves would he be ready to handle the pressure and start right away for us? That would be asking quite a lot from the young lad. Although it's pretty clear that Barcelona cannot continue with another season of such inconsistent and erratic goalkeeping considering how "shaky" they are at the back to begin with.
