Roma wants to swap Mancini for Abidal

Italian sports paper Il Corriere dello Sport claims that AS Roma is preparing a swap offer for Barcelona.

With Roma winger Alessandro Mancini (27) not wanting to renew his contract that expires in 2009, Roma wants to sell the Brazilian this summer. The Italian club is now thinking about offering the player to Barcelona and ask for Barcelona left back defender and French international Eric Abidal (28) in return.

Abidal is seen by the Italians as the ideal candidate to fill up the left back position next year. The French defender should nevertheless be willing to accept a salary cut.

Where will you find a back-up for Abidal? Keep the guy!!

I still don't understand why there are even rumours that Abidal could leave.

He's one of the best players in the world on his position and made a very good first season for Barca. He should be one of the players with a biggest mark "NOT FOR SALE" in that team.

Ok, then I'll use that one in the future.

I googled both and the two are apparently equally used, so I thought I'd better go for the more official one.

Thanks for the info!
