Ex-Barça: Giovani to Ipswich Town on loan

English Premier League club Tottenham has yesterday officially announced the transfer of Tottenham attacker and Mexican international Giovani dos Santos (19) to Ipswich Town on loan for the rest of the season. The English second division club has officially confirmed the deal.

The statement on the official website of Tottenham reads: "Giovani Dos Santos has joined Ipswich Town on loan for the rest of the season. The Mexican international was a summer signing from Barcelona and has gone on to make 12 appearances in our colours. The 19-year-old scored his first goal for the Club against Shakhtar Donetsk in the UEFA Cup last month."

Giovani dos Santos came through the Barcelona youth ranks and joined the first team squad in the summer of 2007. One year later, he left for Tottenham.

pls guy i think its not normal to mock gio,he is a kid and i think his agent is responsible for this mess, for not leading him to the right part, gio wanted more playing time as akid of just 18,and his foolish agent cant even let him know the circumstance of the game and not the business,(for his age). look at xavi when he considered himself not having much time and he considered leaving for inter milan, but he was well advised by his father and agent.so i pray for giovanni to be back in spurs next season to show his worth and maybe comeback to barcelona, after realising his mistakes.

Gio dos Santos told barcelona he would not accept any loan this year. He wanted to be a first team player or to leave. Now he accepts a loan to the championship division in england? Sad. He could have been behind henry on the left wing learning from one of the greats of world football. Instead he is being carried out of clubs passed out from drinking. Another van der meyde if you ask me.

I hope Bojan will learn from Santos' mistakes and be smart enough to remain with Barca forever....lol

Gio left because of idiots like a few of you thinking "haha idiot!". When you jump from the cantera to the first team and are expected to perform with such little playing time, there WILL be pressure. Remember that he was whistled at often. Unlike Bojan who is loved for being the homegrown Catalan with the path laid out for him... Gio wasn't greedy, he just wanted a bigger role so he could grow.

Well he can have his bigger role with ipswich town in the championship division. Barcelona offered him the chance to go out on loan this season if he signed a new contract with us. He refused stating that he was "too good" to be loaned out and the only way he was going to leave the camp nou was for good. He deserves everything he gets.

OK, calm down guys. I partially agree with both posts above (barca al & barca4life). The truth is I'd better like to watch him playing in Blaugrana shirt, but...
