Football database IMScouting has drawn up a list of the most expensive Under-21 central defenders.
Barcelona central defender and Uruguayan international Martín Cáceres (21) tops the list with an estimated market value of 16 million euro.

Why the hell did we pay so much for someone pep doesnt want to use? Seriously why? I dont know cos i never saw him play last season. and dont say potential cos 16m is unreasonable for just potential

In my mind he must be rated more than 5 m euro..

hope he lives up to his price tag... we need him more now rather than later... show us ur potential Caceres...
Caceres is the future. he has had a tough time so far but no doubt about it he has potential. He just needs to find his footing. its always difficult joining a new club. I think as caceres continues to get accustomed to barca he will get better and better. Its not as if we have a pressing need for him to start. Puyol and marquez have another 2-3 years as the starting combo i figure at which time pique caceres and henrique will probaby see an opening space with marquez most likely going.

I can be not right - Barca paid about 16 m.
So...Do anybody know another players from this list? I'm not sure...It's a good article for all, who criticizes Caceres.
I have heard about breno, david luiz, sidnei and dirk marcellis. Not so much about the others
Cáceres have the potential to be the best centerback in the world, if u wants to..
But he's just 21 and the best back's in the world are over that, maybe around 24+

Yes, and nobody talked about his loan or about his sale. He has worked hard and it gave us great defender.

It's very easy: when clubs like Real madrid, Chelsea, ManCity are ready to pay more 50 millions for players, every small club like Recreativo tries to get more money, because they know - it's not difficult to find 15 mill, for club like Barca...
Look at Sevilla. They returned from second division only 8 years ago, but already has won 2 UEFA cup, Copa Del Rey and last seasons played in CL. For these 8 years were sold players like Reyes, Baptista, Sergio Ramos, Dani Alves. Every transfer brought them about 30 million. And for another clubs it's a great example of transfer strategy...
