Hleb could be part of Ribery deal

Catalan sports paper El Mundo Deportivo claims that Barcelona will make a bid of 30 million euro° for Bayern Munich wing attacker and French international Franck Ribéry (25).

Although Bayern Munich refused last summer a 40 million euro bid by Chelsea for Ribéry, the German club could now agree with a transfer as a consecuence of the pressure by the player.

The paper claims that Barcelona has made the player a contract offer for four (plus two) years including a fixed year salary of 5 million euro.

One of Ribéry's agents, Jean-Pierre Bernès, didn't want to confirm or deny that he has been holding talks with Barcelona sports director Txiki Begiristain since last month (read more here), although he said that Barcelona is a possible destination for Ribéry if he would leave Bayern.

Bayern Munich chief executive Karl-Heinz Rummenigge would meanwhile have asked for Barcelona attacker and Belarus international Alexander Hleb (27) (read more
here) and Barcelona president Joan Laporta would have said that the player is for sale.

Barcelona, that paid 15 (plus 3) million euro for Hleb last year, would now asking a transfer fee between 14 and 18 million euro°. The transfer of Hleb could be used to lower the transfer price of Ribéry, although Hleb seems to prefer at this moment a return to the English Premier League or a move to Italy.

Asked about the new rumours linking Ribéry with a move to Barcelona (read more
here), the player's agent Alain Miglaccio has also said in an interview with Catalan radio station RAC 1 that Barcelona is one of the options for the player: "If Ribéry leaves, it will be to go to a club like Barcelona, where you have only great players. To play at Barça would be something phenomenal for him, like for every football player."

heeey, frankie boy, we are all expecting you!! a swap hleb+ lets say 15M would be quite a good deal, since the hleb´s performance havent been really what i had expected from him.. he certainly has some skills i just dont think he has got used to barcelona´s way of playing or weather or whatever.. i cant imagine ribery not being a hit, he´s just an extraordinary player. omg, messi, etoo (villa?), ribery, iniesta, xavi, puyol, alves,.. awwwww that is a dream team my friends, not to mention the humbleness of the players and a friendly group they make. i love this team :)

This article mad my day honestly, as i really think Ribery will join us next season. Any doubts on him NO I dont think so, he is great he will somehow complete the missing puzzle to become the DREAM TEAM.

It will allow us to rotate between Messi, Iniesta and Ribery b/w the 2 fwd wing positions. I have my doubts that it will go through though. Will be happy to see the back of Hleb, he has done nothing for us all season.

That story gets more and more interesting, but I still put it in the "rumor" category, until the clubs say something. But it's starting to feel like the Dani Alves story, and we know how that one came out.

I like Deco's lineup, except no way in heck would I have Aguero as my pointman. Henry or Eto'o, provided both are still in the house, for sure.

Oh: One more thing. Remember that we are a difficult side to learn to play with. Henry struggled, Abidal struggled, Zambrotta struggled, the list goes on. Even Alves isn't as good now as he's going to be.

So when people savage Hleb for not fitting in after just over half a season, what might you be saying when Ribery comes, and requires that same break-in period?

Yes, Ribery has a bigger pool of skills to draw on than Hleb. But the reality is that he will not, initially, be everything that everyone thinks he will be.

Kxevin, you're right. But also as you say, Ribery is the better player. Nobody was really excited about Hlebs transfer. I know I wasn't.
Hleb is a really good player and should play in a top team in Italy, England or Spain. But not in Barca.
Ribery on the other hand have a lot of other qualities and IMO also fitts our system much better. He's a naturall fast left winger and can open up counter attacks. He's technical and he can score goals. We will be a lot more patient with his break-in period.

We should buy
-Ribéry or Agüero for the leftwing
-Evra/Zhirkov/Lahm fot the back
-and a talented attaking
midfielder, to become a substitude of Xavi and Iniesta
Maybe Thiago is already good for the first team. Otherwise a good south-american boy

Hleb has had time and opportunities to fit in, he hasn't been laid up with injury unlike Henry and Abidal. People keep suggesting that he should be given the playmaker role but the fact is he was bought to play on the wings and that is where he has prove himself. Henry has managed to adjust to a LW role he is unaccustomed to. It is difficult to see from Hleb's performances how he can add value to the team.

No one is savaging Hleb (at least not presently and not on this page :P) rather I was suggesting that Ribery for the wing means Hleb is deadweight.

True, Kamikaze, but remember that Hleb was laid up with an injury, right about the time he was getting regular time and beginning to play very well. He was having a great match when he was taken out by a hard tackle. I want to say he was gone for 3-4 weeks.

He's struggled to find his way back since then.

I don't think we use Hleb in the right position. He is playmaker not a winger. I hope Pep will give him a chance to play in the middle. Then we can have a moore realistic imagin about this player. Also i hope Pedro will have moore chances.
