Barcelona has announced that the club has made a net profit of 15,9 million euro during the first half of this season.
The numbers were presented last week by Barcelona economic vice-president Joan Boix and Barcelona executives (read more here).
Compared to the same period during the 2007-08 campaign, expenses have risen by ten per cent in the first half of the season partly because the cost of restructuring the playing squad, the investment in work on the training complex and the expenses of the Barça shop.
This year has, on the other hand, seen a 12,4 per cent rise in income to 186 million euro over the July-December period. That is thanks, in part, to the new audiovisual contract, income from playing in the Champions League, a new deal with Nike and the acquisition of the rights of the Barça shop.
