Cesc wants to return to Barcelona

Madrid sports tabloid Marca unconfirmedly claims that Arsenal midfielder and Spanish international Cesc Fàbregas (21) wants to join Barcelona next season.

Cesc, who has been in Barcelona recovering from a knee injury that has left him sidelined since December, has met in the past weeks with several people linked with Barcelona and has told them that he very much would like to return in the summer.

The Catalan midfielder, who left the Barcelona youth academy in 2003, would like to join Barcelona because this would give him more chances to win trophies, especially the Champions League, and because he would like to team-up again with former team-mates like Lionel Messi and Thierry Henry.

The Barcelona board, that was thinking about a return for some time, has been informed about the wish of the player. The club is aware that the negotiations with Arsenal would be difficult and surely doesn't want to pay more than 20 million euro° for Cesc, because the fans wouldn't accept paying a big transfer fee for a former youth player.

Catalan sports paper Sport claims that Cesc, whose contract with Arsenal expires in 2014, wanted to assist a game at the Camp Nou during his recovery but decided not to go and see Barcelona because his presence could start speculations about his future.

This is great news, Off course he wants to come back imagine if you are sitting home recovering from injury and keep watching Barcelona play matches, like the way there are no and plus being from barca and eat the Spanish food, that would attempt him to come back

Screw him, I do not want to see him wear the Blaugrana jersey ever. He left for more money and he wants to come back for more money, let him rot in Arsenal thinking he can win more silverware and more playing time.

While he looks with grief and envy at La Masia products who where with him at the same time and decided to sit back and wait and fight for their chance with the first team. They play in the best team on this planet at the moment, while I bet that he bites his fingers every time someone mentions Barcelona.

If he comes for free, then I might consider signing him back after he publicly apologizes and repents for his sins. :D

I can see a toure-fabregas swap next season. I don't really think that we need this guy anyway.

Visca el Barca

I don't think we would swap Touré for anyone, let alone Fabregas. Touré is an important asset of our team, and it is quite evident especially now (he was quite fabulous last season too).

We should definitely not pay more than €20 million for him. The big question though is, whether he will force his way out, especially now that he is a captain. Also, what kind of an impact would it have on our excellent relationship with Arsenal I wonder.

Knives I agree with you,. When I wrote that we don't need this guy, I was thinking about Fabregas.

Yaya is an important for Us..

I wouldnt put much faith in this story. Even is Cesc did want to come, where would he play? I suppose if we sell Keita or Guddy he could occupy one of their roles. He certainly wouldnt be a regular starter on our team. Would he leave Arsenal, where he is their main man, to come to us and spend a lot of time on the bench? Would we spend that much money on a player who is going to spend a lot of time on the bench? I think the answer to both is no.

As for swapping Toure and Cesc, absolutely ludicrous!!! I would never swap one for the other. I tell you now Toure is one of our untouchables....or at least he should be.

Would much rather dish out on Ribery and Villa/Benzema. Our midfield is pretty solid, especially if we get a proper left winger like Ribery or Silva so Iniesta can move back in the middle.A quality backup for Abidal would be nice too. Besides that we dont need anymore. Am happy to hold on to Keita and Hleb who i think will both improve with time, especially Hleb who we have seen nowhere near the best of.

I agree no more than 20 million euro 25 would be the absolute most. We currently have xavi iniesta toure keita gudjohnson and busquets. We also have thiago coming through. Guddy wanted to stay even when given the chance in january. Hleb is not happy, maybe we can work a deal to send hleb and keita and cash for cesc. xavi busquets and cesc in the middle with toure guddy and thiago on the bench and iniesta on the left wing.

but i have heard that there is same law that allows to buy out contract from club after few years of game ... and they count it for Cesc aprox 20mln E

I'd say we consider a Cesc-Keita swap deal with like 10 million euros. It would be perfect since Keita ia DM and Arsenal are looking for one ... plus Toure could be Busquets mentor :) We have plenty of cover and I am a big believer in Thiago.

Since we are looking for an attacking midfielder like Gourcouff, Suarez of Ajax, Hernanes (of Sao Paulo) after the Departure of Deco. Fabregas is the best attacking midfielder and he is the son of the team. He is 21 only. I would give Hleb back or do anything ( but no YAYA TOURE ) to get Fabregas back. This is easy if Arsenal does not qualify for the Champions league( Important point).

For the attack, Benzema could be brought by the use of Abidal. If he costs less than 40 mil -> Ok. Otherwise, get Kerrison from brazil or Kanoute of Sevilla (He is old but contract expires soon and will come cheap --> could use him for 2-3 years)

Perhaps we could offer Henry as a bargaining chip?

In any case, I don't think we need Cesc as long as we have Xavi/Iniesta. Assuming Cesc will still be available, I say we wait until Xavi begins to pass his prime, at which point Cesc will still be relatively young and could serve as a good starting replacement.

well said HILAL. in my opinion xavi iniesta, toure/busquets are untouchable. cesc would be good for keeping the bench warm tough.

Like they say in Celtic.
"Crosas is better than Cesc!"
and we can buy him for 2 million in 2010...
and besides Thiago is coming up the ranks, Gai is coming up the ranks, and Jeffren, and in a few years Icardi.
and also, if we get Cesc, our name should be changed to Barcenal.
Lastly, I refuse to discuss about transfers, before the season is over. Even though i just did;)

Gai Jeffren and Icardi do not play the same position as cesc.

the kid does have a knack for burning bridges...i hope he comes back but something catastrophic would have to happen for the captain to rescind his contract like that...it'd be bad for football but good for barcelona if arsenal didn't make it into the champions league.

i'm all for a keita + cash swap(not toure). throw in guddy & milito while you're at it...look what happened w/andrade @ juventus :/. we've got defenders coming out of our ears.

could we please stop with suggesting swaps and players as exchange money? they're human beings you know, not pieces of meat..

you can only include a player in a deal when he himself wants it..

Mast

Come 2 mama & papa fabregas !!

No thanks to Cesc. But if they want Hleb back then that is fine. He is not of Barca quality.
