[2008] Alonso summer target

this post was published one year ago:

British tabloid The Daily Star claims that Barcelona will make a bid for Liverpool midfielder Xabi Alonso (26) next summer. Also because of injuries, Alonso has less playing time this season and since Liverpool has similar players in the squad, they would be willing to let him go. Barcelona would prepare an offer of 13,2 million euro for the Spanish international.

Why should we get this guy? To replace Edmilson on the bench? We have Touré for the defensive midfielder spot, and I think that's the only position Xabi Alonso can play in a 4-3-3. So please, buy wisely...

because when you look at the statistics you find that barcelona have a poor number of shots compere to manU or some of the biggest teams and that's because no body in the midfield have a good shots quality exept Xavi Hernandez but it's not his power point..

I guess if we had bought Alonso would certainly never have seen the emergence of Busquets.

It makes me wonder why Pedro hasn't been used more this season. If we give Pedro more opportunities maybe the left-wing headache will no longer be an issue next season. Because between Iniesta and Henry we do have cover for that position so if Pedro gets more experience we wouldn't need a big money signing for that position.
