First training session of the year

Barcelona held the first training session of 2009 on New Year's day at 6:30 pm. Gerard Piqué caught a flu and returned home with 38.5° fever. Today he will again be examined by the medical staff to see if he can take part in the league game against Mallorca tomorrow.

Martín Cáceres returned one day early from holiday and trained with the squad. This afternoon, the last two players - Messi and Alves - will return from holiday and join the group.

It's probably not fair that some players got longer holiday but Messi and Dani wouldn't be in the starting line up against Mallorca even if they were here whole week because Pep knows that we can beat Mallorca without them and wants them rested for Atletico.

i think its logical, slowpoke, the likes of Iniest, puyol xavi etc needs to drive home from the game of the year, while henry, guddy and co need less than 2hrs journey home, but travelling to africa and south.america takes "forever" and you might not see you family for another 5months. But Xavi, iniesta, puyol etc all live local
