Barcelona holds on to Jorquera

Asturias regional newspapers La Voz de Asturias and La Nueva España claim that Barcelona isn't willing to let Barcelona goalkeeper Albert Jorquera (29), whose contract with Barcelona expires in 2010, leave on loan to Spanish first division club Sporting Gijón.

Asturias regional newspaper El Comercio claims that it was Barcelona manager Josep Guardiola who stopped the talks, after Barcelona had already agreed to start the negotiations. La Voz de Asturias claims that the Barcelona technical staff wants to have three goalkeepers at their disposal for the rest of the season.

El Comercio claims that Jorquera, who is represented by player's agent Arturo Canales, had been offered to Sporting and was one of the main winter targets of the club earlier this week. Sporting wanted to sign Jorquera on loan until the end of the season with Barcelona paying part of his salary.

he might not be barca-standart player, but he is a barca-standart person, and in a club like barca, it is as important,
and pep knows it.

I agree with the comment above about how he can wear a barca shirt.

I wish that we had let him go and made a bid for Shay Given from Newcastle because he is a fantastic goalkeeper, and at 32 he's not too old but I would be sad if he didn't get much playing time.
