Kanoute leaves Barcelona door open

Asked about his future, Sevilla forward and Mali international Frédéric Kanouté (31) has unconfirmedly said in an interview withe the official Uefa website that he wouldn't refuse the chance to move to Barcelona:

"At this moment, I have a contract with Sevila and I'm feeling good here. But of course, playing for Barça or Madrid is something every football player would like... But you cannot know if this is really a possibility.

I don't think about retiring yet. I'm very happy here but nobody knows what the future can bring. I wouldn't mind retiring in Sevilla, if all parties concerned would find an agreement. I've lived the best years of my professional career here."

I think Barca need a new Henrik Larsson on the bench next season.

An experience player that dont complain too much sitting on the bench (mostly because of his age).
But the trainer can use him as an extra card to change a match situation.

Larsson gave Barca lots of points in the short period he played (two important assists in the CL final againt Arsenal).

It was some speaking about Cruz from Inter.
If to chose from all the real posibilities, then i prefer most Kanoute.
He is soon 32 years and can no doubt be an extra card to chande a match. It can be good also for him to have a change in his last phase of his carrier.
He has also experiences from the spanish primera, so there are no needs for adjustment to a new place or climate etc.

It will be of course strange to get another player from Sevilla after a short time (Alves a Keita last summer).
And it can be difficult fot Del Nido (sevillas president) to face the fans if this will be done.

But i would like the idea.

To me he is better than Adebayor.

i agree with you

He can become Eto'o back-up if something happen with Eto'o. But, if We buy him, does the problem remain?? We have no striker when African Cup is held!!! Correct me if I'm wrong...

Why bet money on kanoute? Even though hes old theyll ask for maybe 15mil for him. If we need a subersub id still bet on someone younger.

Any chance in llorente leaving bilbao? Not likely.

Why pay what will most likely be a decent sum for kanoute when we have bojan and can get julio cruz for free?

I thought Gudi is another Larsson!!! He has the experience, he was a striker, he can score goals, he can assist and he didn't mind being on the bench, to me, he is way better than Larsson!!! I like Kanoute, he's worldclass, but I don't think he wouldn't mind being on the bench.

I also agree with barca4life, Julio Cruz is free, so why not grt him instead?

*mistake in last sentence: so why not GO for him instead?

Gudjohnsen is a very solid player, but he is in no way, shape or form better than Larsson. Much respect for what Gudjohnsen does, but that just isn't so.

Cruz would be good in that bench role. Kanoute needs too much service. He's definitely a good striker, but I'd like to see him make his own shot more.

Besides, I can't see us signing another African player. As someone pointed out, when Eto'o leaves for ACN (if he's still with us at that time), his sub is also gone. Not good.

You guys have no idea about Henrik Larsson. He was not happy to be on the bench in Barcelona. I'm myself from Sweden Helsingborg, the same city where Henrik Larsson lives. A man who worked at my school when I was in elementary school when i was around 15 is a childhood friend with Henrik Larsson. I'm 21 atm. I still have contact with that man Lúis hes also from Cape Verde. He have told me that Henrik Larsson didn't like the bench in Barcelona and that he wanted more time on the field.

But Kanouté is a great player and I think he would not accept the bench.

Believe it or not but I've been with Henrik Larsson at my friends house :). What a great honor it was.

To those guys who didn't know, Henrik Larsson is still playing for the Swedish national team. He will always be a great legend and an awesome player. When he plays, he looks like hes 25 years old or something.

Larsson-Ibrahimovic on the top.

I say get Roque Santa Cruz. At Barca WE need someone with some minimum ability with the ball at his feet. Someone good on the turn and holding the ball up. If we have to buy a big, tall striker for variety in our attack next season lets make it Santa Cruz.
