Valencia rejects offer for Villa

Madrid sports tabloid Marca claims that Barcelona is interested in Valencia forward and Spanish international David Villa (27), who would be on top of Barcelona's wish list for next season.

Barcelona wants to take advantage of Villa's drop of form and would have contacted Valencia to make a first bid worth 35 million euro°. Valencia didn't accept the bid and is not willing to negotiate for less than 40 million euro°.

The paper claims that signing Villa would also allow Barcelona to put pressure on the renewal negotiations the club wants to start soon with Barcelona striker Samuel Eto'o.

Asked about the rumour linking Villa with Barcelona, the player's agent José Luis Tamargo said in an interview with Madrid radio station Radio Marca that a transfer isn't very likely at this moment:

"One day it's this club, tomorrow it's another one. Villa is one of the most wanted players in the world, so those rumours are normal. Whoever contacts us will be welcomed but David Villa has a contract with Valencia until 2014, he's very happy and satisfied at his club and he's now only thinking about winning the Liga, the UEFA cup and the Copa.

An offer of 35 million euro? Valencia won't sell for that price. In fact, I don't think that Valencia wants to sell the player at all. The people of Valencia can have quiet holidays, Villa will be there with them."

Pure rumor and nothing more. Despite Villa being excellent player and striker I really cannot see his place in current Barca team.

We don't need four strikers.. Txiki said that..

This would've been more believable if it had something to do with Silva and if it hadn't come from Marca..

I was watching "Revista De La Liga" on skysports (UK) yesterday and Guilem Balgue (spelling) was saying that its pure lie. He claimed Valencia rejected 40Mil Euro from Madrid not too long ago, so why would Barca go with inferior offer? And he also said Villa wouldnt be eligible for Champs League as he has played more than one uefa cup game for Valencia this season. And Valencia are asking for 60Mil Euros.
The guy also claimed he spoke to Villa and his agent and they rubbished the report. But he (balague) thinks David Villa is most likely going to move to Barca in the summer. And that would also make Eto'o sign his renewal (cant hold us to ransome)

i think this rumour push pressure etoo to renew his contracts.
personally, villa is perfect replacement for etoo if he
keep refusing to have renewal meeting.

A waste of money if it happens. We don't need him.

Eto'o renewal is much more better and less expensive option for Barca. Anyway, Villa is better option than Benzema (which stated recently that prefer RM). So, I choose Villa and Aguero as new summer signings. Aguero would be great replacement for Henry, and Villa only if Eto'o decide to go. Biggest obstacle is Villa's price, 40M is big amount. In that case Barca should ask at least 50M for Eto'o.

ouu ee, agree with recent comment! Aguero will be the best signing for us, what about Villa... only if Eto'o leave!

GO FOR AGUERO!!!
