Given his performances so far, his potential for the future and other aspects you may want to take into account (transfer fee paid, player's mentality, etc)

10 = we couldn't have found a better guy
...
0 = we never should have bought him

He have been OK so far but nothing more. Of course he have a lot of potential and he could easily become a icon like Puyol is today but generally I don't like the idea that we have to pay big money for a backstabber like Pique who only thought about the money when he left for Manure.

So I gave him a 6, if he didn't have a prior history at Barca I would probably give him a 9 because he have lots of potential.

I will give him a 7. he has been as far as I am concerned the revelation; I did not at all expect him to be this good this early...because of him I want Milito traded with immediate effect...plus he is young and will only get better.
Hope everyone had a very merry christmas

I gave him a 9 because he had shown great potential and certainly will be the future of Barca defence, also he is a home grown player. And he seemed to bring a lot of joy to the squad according to Hleb and the picture we saw when he got "attacked" in the trainng ground. I can't wait till Barca buy Valiente back!!! Future of Barca defence: Pique, Caceres, Herique, Valiente

And do any of you know how Corcoles and Botia is doing in B team?

I gave him a 9... He has shown great potential... He is a great defender i have seen all Barca Games this season... all his games.. He made some mistakes but he is a great defender

6 from me. He has potential, but has to develop some spine. He is a bit lazy at times, preferring to lunge for a ball rather than get into proper position.

He also plays with the ball too much, and makes passes out of the back that aren't crisp. Notice how many times when Pique passes to say, Xavi to start the attack, Xavi has to re-start things by passing the ball back to a guy who will put some juice on the ball so that it doesn't arrive at the same time as a defender.

You can't coach height, and he'll eventually be a very solid defender. But having watched him play this season, there's a reason that Ferguson sold him.

All have great points. I must agree most with Kxevin though....he has potential...but still needs time to develop some anything. I gave him a "5".

Hey Pep... I read something a while ago..was waiting to see if you had anything about it..I know it has nothing to do with this topic and was not sure where to post it - but do you know anything about this ... hope there is more to it.....

Lionel Messi threw a strop after he was hooked during Barcelona's victory over Valencia, it has been revealed.

Radio RAC-1 says Messi refused to train immediately after the 4-0 win, when he was substituted by coach Pep Guardiola for young striker Pedrito. Messi was unhappy with the decision and remained angry the next day.

Initially, Messi was ready to snub the morning training session, but eventually was convinced to go by friends after a series of frantic phone calls. However, while at the Nou Camp, Messi refused to change into his shorts and instead spent the session in the locker room watching television.

Later, Guardiola settled the issue with Messi.

Barca explained his absence officially as "he was doing therapy". It has not transpired, however, if the club fined Messi.

My guess is that Guardiola squashed that nonsense all quick-like. If it's true, and bear in mind that RAC-1 is Barcelona-based and Catalan, so I wouldn't be so quick to dismiss it as trouble-mongering, it's still bullcrap.

It's also the kind of thing that can really derail a team that is on a roll, when one starts being more equal than another.

He should have been taken off, frankly. He was shit, as bad as Henry was good. I'm surprised Guardiola waited as long as he did.

What a delight it would have been had Guardiola told him as much, making it abundantly clear that NO PLAYER is bigger than the team. That's the kind of crap that turned the side from sugar to shite during the Rijkaard years.

Don't know if it's true or not. Just saying that RAC-1 doesn't have any Marca or AS-like axes to grind. Had it just come from tribalfootball.com, I'd write it off.

Don't know what to think, but it might explain the erratic Messi performances of the last few games. He was spotty in the Clasico, and he wasn't all that hot against Villarreal.

Hmmmm.

Not really immpresed buy him as i rated him 7, but he is young and he is likely to immprove in the future . too slow and often off his mark but very good in the air with a pretty good balance, so a rate of 7 for him would be fair .

I dont think he will be starting many matches as soon as Milito is back, also Henrique will be back after this year but lets wait and see thats waht we like about soccer riight!!..

hey RiiS...I am no judge of character but I believe that story is entirely true. I have seen Leo's facial expression over the last couple of years and his general atitude at times towards some of his team mates (Henry) and I know that he is a very strong character. He is so much like Eto'o.
And you all saw the game against Villareal...Messi was awful but Henry and Eto'o were replaced and pep Guardiola let him finnish the game.
There has to be something to that story

Giardiola has to be careful in the way he manages this kid though because in a few years he may be the best player that ever played this game.

Pep Guardiola needs to make full use of Eto'o, Xavi, and Puyol in handling this situation. He has to make them (the older guys)talk to him...it will NOT help if he goes for extreme discipline with Messi

another bullshit from the media, if i remember well 8 barca players were given 3 days of holidays immediately after the valencia game
and messi was one of those 8.....
with messi's poor form this stupid media is just trying to get some readers

I know the story, Riis. But since none of the two Catalan sports paper took it over (as did of course), I didn't consider it my task to stir things up...

Messi often doesn't (fully) participate in the after-game training session to do some injury-preventing exercises, so you can't know what you should believe.

i agree with the above anony the 8 players who were not included in the shaktar donesk match were given 2 or 3 days of holidays immediately after the valencia match this seems to be a rumour
coz how is it possible that messi will train wen he is on a holiday :p

Personally i gave him an 8 although he does some mistakes and he is responsible for some stupid goals he is a good defender...Moreover he is a "product" of the academy and he is just 21 years old so mistakes are not something peculiar..Nevetheless i see him as the new Puyol and maybe even better
