Given his performances so far, his potential for the future and other aspects you may want to take into account (transfer fee paid, player's mentality, etc)
I gave gim an 8, he scores alot of goals for a Defensive midfielder and his heading is a real asset. He saved us a couple of times, like the equaliser against Getafe and against Villareal. Minus 2 because sometimes he does dissapear in a match ..
I'm still in the "don't know" category. He hasn't really found a place yet. He isn't a DM, though that's his official position. He isn't a forward, though he sometimes plays like one.
Generally, he's been mediocre to average, when he's been visible in matches. But like Henry, I'm just figuring it takes time to adapt to the system, the pressure, etc.
I gave the guy an 8 even though I think he can do better and will do better. I was elated Barca signed him because I have known him since his days at Lens (where he was club captain and hence already a leader). he is only going to get better! @kxevin....he is what you call a true box to box midfielder; he needs some more consecutive starts and you will see the beast!!!
KRISH, thats what ramzi said: you don't really remark the third midfield role, whether its keita or guddy they're really contributing to the team. KAYR
I went with 8 because we got him fairly inexpensively - 15mm Euro buyout clause+tax (and took him from a Liga rival - Sevilla); and he is incredibly versatile (filled in at left back against Getafe, scored a few key goals). Playing with Toure or Busquets gives us a much more physical midfield. Plays the 3rd Mid role well - see Ramzi's piece. Best of all, he seems like a good character guy, not expecting to start, can play different roles, a great team player (going mostly from the interviews here and seeing him play).
I will note that every two years we are going to be hurting in January when African nations cup comes around - no Etoo, no Toure, no Keita. Oh my. Happy holidays - Gilmango
true but did we buy him as a cover for Yaya or as a replacement for Deco if it was the latter then with all due respect Keita is not as creative as Deco..
or if he is indeed the much vaunted 3rd midfielder then those forward runs he makes without warning scares me..
but as long as he's scoring and we're winning..its all good.. :D
at KRISH, with guardiola the tactics are different. the more creative player now is no more the deco but the xavi. when we play away keita does his job, which is defend more than attack like against villareal but when we play home, PEP plays with guddy or iniesta becoz of their attacking abilities. Busquets only plays away games, rarely at home because he lacks those attacking abilities.i gave him a 10 becoz guardiola brought him mainly to strengthen up the midfield for games like sevilla or villareal in which he has done his job well( read ramzi's article about the third midfielder) imagine playing chelsea or liverpool away with yaya, xavi and iniesta against mascherano, alonso and gerrard. KAYR
I, like Kevin, am going with "Don't know" simply because the jury is still out. After only 7 league starts and 7 sub appearances, it's hard to rate anyone as a bust or brilliant.
If we condemn him now, then we have done so on the basis of very limited information. Messi's first 14 games weren't brilliant, to be honest, but they showed glimpses of what he could become. I think Keita is doing the same (though admittedly in a very different way).
If we praise him too much, then we're forgetting that he does have obvious shortcomings.
i gave sidi an 8 as i think he has doen what he can do in the minutes he's been given!, he works hard gets up an back puts in tackles not afraid 2 attack the ball his long shooting maybe could be better like at seville, but overall his signing has been key as when he an yaya plays it allows yaya to be a lil more relaxed as he knows he's got sidi there i think he wil get better remember no disrepect to seville but barca are much more superior so he will take time but mark my words seydou, pique an caceres will all come good with time!ps what made his signing crucial was we needed more steel in midfield its all well an great having technical greats like deco, xavi iniesta etc but u do need a balance u need fighters an yaya an keita r just that, african warriors.
