Youth: English top clubs following Deulofeu

Catalan sports paper Sport claims that several English Premier League clubs are interested in Barcelona Cadete A wing attacker Gerard Deulofeu (14).

Scouts of Chelsea, Arsenal and Liverpool have been following the performances of Deulofeu during an international youth tournament in the Netherlands earlier this year and this has lead to contacts with the entourage of the Catalan player.

Although several agencies have already offered their services to his parents, Deulofeu, who joined Barcelona from Espanyol a few years ago, is at this moment not yet represented by a professional agent.

Catalan sports paper El Mundo Deportivo claims that it looks like Armando Ufarte could become the agent of the Spanish youth international.

See a video of Deulofeu here

I hope these guys/clubs realise BARCA aint no supermarket. They can come and learn how we run, but we shouldnt be raising star for them. They can P**S off and raise their own stars

Leave our young players alone!

I dont why but i think they will grab him away from us, i dont have confidence on our club when it comes to our young players.

And for those s***** who come and try to steal our talents they can just f**** Piss off

first let me say that i agree with all the previous comments wholeheartedly. We really should hold onto this kid, if you watch his video clips he has a calmness in front of goal almost reminiscent of stoichov. Barca seem to have more midfield talent than striker talent so i believe watever good strikers come through our ranks we should do our utmost to hold. It would be nice if we had some nice defenders coming through too, though pep told me about his guy Romeu. We need to be wary of them sniffing around ebwelle too and some other wingers we got in our set up (cant remeber their names)

There should be a law protecting clubs with such young and fragile talent. we shouldn't even be talking business when it comes to these kids.
Hey this is Barca not FC Nantes or Ajax Amsterdam. Barca is not a market

Why not do like they do in Brazil? There their players can't leave for abroad until they are 18. It's sick that a 14 year-old boy should move away from school and friends to get a better chance to be a pro, football shouldn't even be his biggest priority at that age.

you guys do realize that barcelona is the biggest thief of young talent out there right... ebwolle deolofeu messi xavi bojan iniesta...guess what they have in common .....THEY WERENT BORN PLAYING FOR BARCELONA ... WE STOLE THEM FROM OTHER COUNTRIES AND FROM OTHER YOUTH SYSTEMS WHEN THEY WERE 9-14 YEARS OLD.. WE STEAL JUST LIKE EVERYBODY ELSE.!!!!!!! So when other people steal from us.. thats just karma.. I do agree blatter and platini need to regulate this issue of youth players but it would affect us more than anybody.. except maybe arsenal.

Messi came to us because they didn't want him in Argentina, Marc.

And there's a difference between getting guys from smaller clubs (which is a logic thing, both for the player and the club) and really chasing players from fellow top clubs who have done part of the job for you. Why don't they get 9-14 year old guys in England and educate them?

We "stole" Bojan when he was 9 years old. When you are at that age you change clubs all the time and it was a logical choice since his father had a history at Barca. Xavi joined Barca at the age of 11.

Iniesta came from Albacete at the age of 12, that is a bit strange but at least he i a Spaniard.

We signed Messi at the age of 11 and the clubs in Argentina that were interested couldn't afford the treatment he needed but Barca could (500£ / month).

I would hardly say that we stole any of those players.

Thats right simonp. You need to check your facts marc. messi SENT a video to barca, therefore he requested to join barca, whereas these clubs are CHASING Deulofeu. I think eto brought in ebwelle and 2 other youth wingers. Bojan's father works for barca so is that unusual that bojan should end up playing for barca? I dont deny that barca chase youth talent but at least many of them want to come to barca anyway.

I dont think a 9 year old and and 11 year old can understand the tremendous sacrifice that their parents must make when a big club comes in with their soccer heroes and wooing them with the bright lights of the nou camp and the romarios and rivaldos etc. If you offer a 9 year old a barrell full of candy they will eat it without giving a thought to cavities getting fat or the indigestion it might cause. This is exactly what teams like barcelona to.. I love barcelona but their is something immoral about this. Kidz leave sometimes without their parents to live in a boarding school in a foreign country... their education is basic at best.... what happens when it doesnt work out for them..not every messi.. becomes a star... they end up as a academy rejects.. playing on the third division for minimum money. How many of them never reach their potential because they cant adjust to the language and the culture.. Their is more in this world than just football, what about the development of these young men into men hmm... anyone think of that.. Maybe stealing was the wrong world.. but there is something wrong with recruiting 9-12 year olds. the san lorenzos and liver plates work their asses off to train these young men from toddlers to young teens and then poof... their rising star is gone with 0 COMPENSATION.... their is something wrong their tooo no?... I love this club just as much as anyone.. but we are no different from the clubs that would steal them away from us by offering 16 and 17 year olds a million euros a year... we cant pay everyone in our academy that.... we dont have an abramovic.. we cant pay that for wages for all of them... thats pretty immoral too in my opinion.. this type of behavior is not sustainable in the long term. these are the areas where I think there needs to be more regulation. thats all

point taken. though i dont know if they receive "basic" education, and i think some clubs offer to take the parents as well provided they can find jobs within the country. take gai and messi for example.

San Lorenzo also gets the player from a smaller club, so then there's no difference with us either.

What's your plan then, Marc? Everyone should stay and play for the club of his hometown and can only leave when they are 20 years old? Then your preventing young guys from getting the best football education.

It's just the normal way of things that you go from a smaller to a bigger club. It's not normal you go from a big club to another big club just because they offer you more money. That's the difference between Barcelona and the English clubs.

And let's not forget the Catalan players are the vast majority in our youth teams.

If you see the guys coming though our ranks, they all seem fairly well-educated so I don't think there's a problem there either.
