Moutinho was high on list to replace Deco

Catalan sports paper Sport claims that Sporting midfielder and Portuguese international João Moutinho (22) was high on Barcelona's wish list of candidates to replace former Barcelona attacking midfielder Deco, who has left the club this summer (read more here).


Based on some excellent scouting reports, Barcelona contacted Sporting on a possible transfer. But with the Portuguese club holding on to a transfer fee of 25 million euro° (read more here), Barcelona turned to other options and bought Keita and Hleb.

Maybe more expensive, but he would be far better option (than Keita and/or Hleb) due to his age and skills. I think Barca will regret not taking him and Vd Vaart. As I can read at Goal.com Arsenal will try in January to take Yaya away. If good offer comes, I say why not?! He'll become frustrated if Guardiola doesn't treat him like starting XI. Anyway, Barca should try to get rid of Henry and Gudjohnsen in January and try to get another striker, because Barca create a lot of chances but not the goals.

I think they should have got Diego (Werder Bremen) for that Deco spot. I wouldn't mind they'd give it another try next summer but with Xavi, Iniesta and hleb you have already three players of that type and you can't see any of those leave.
