Barcelona interested in Chelsea striker Kalou

British tabloid The Daily Mirror claims that Barcelona is intersted in Chelsea forward and Ivory Coast international Salomon Kalou (23).

Kalou would be getting increasingly frustrated at Chelsea because of a lack of first-team chances under new Chelsea manager Luiz Felipe Scolari and Barcelona believes they could sign the Ivorian, who would be available for 7,5 million euro°.

Asked about his situation, Kalou said earlier this week in an interview with British sports site Setanta Sports that he could seek other opportunities in the future if he fails to become a regular starter:

"Of course I practice hard to have opportunities, but the manager’s decisions must be respected, even if I’m here to play. It’s up to me to work twice as hard at training, and to be honest I try to give my best in order to improve my football and hopefully it’s going to pay off.

I don’t know what my future consists of, the season is still long. It’s too early to take a decision right now. When a young player arrives at Chelsea he’s happy to learn, and then you can have the opportunity to grow in another club or in here. As a young player I am aware of the fact that I have to make the perfect choice and at some point of my career I’ll have to accept to fly with my own wings."

didn't see much of him before chelsea but he hasnt been very good there, he doesnt seem to influence the game very much, might just be chelsea and how they play etc but not very convinced by him, although thats a very cheap price tag.

would much prefer joe cole but i guess he would cost a fair bit more!

Kalou is not for Barca.

D.Silva and T.Walcott is for Barca. ;)

He's good versatile player. He's not just striker. He can play both flanks and midfield (something like Vd Vaart). Price is quite fair, frankly I expected higher price. All I can say is go for him. But it will be tough race between several clubs (especially Arsenal).

I always felt that Theo Walcott would have been perfect. His run in the Champsions League last year against Liverpool that lead to Adebayor's goal prove what sort of player he can become. But, Arsene won't sell him, however, if he keeps favouring Eboue (a player that has all the bad qualities somebody can have -lazy, fouls, dives, fakes injuries, cross with nobody in the box, cannot score etc. etc.) over him Theo may want to leave.

But, with the season starting badly -same story as the end of last season -tons of possession, numerous shots on goal, yet so few on target- Aguero (who Barca should have bought out his 60m contract before the season as he is a World class player) is a must for the January transfer window. Unfortunately, thanks to the manager, presidents etc. having such a narrow sight and doing exactly what I knew they would and concentrate too much on adquiring a centre-forward, only time would tell whether the January window would be too late for the team to avoid another cupless football year.

He wouldnt be bad at all for that price...
If this price is true we should get him....

We should deffinitly get him, thats equal to price of Gudjonhsen more or less 7.5 millions is very cheap indeed and he has qualities.

the guy has talent. Even though he hasnt featured in scolari's squad so far when he featured in mourinho's and grants asquad last season he usually gave a good account of himself. i think we should get him, for his versatility, and i think he's built like eto, skills and physique and it would be good if eto could take him under his wing giving us 2 eto's.

Kalou isn't Barça material. he's just not a standout player. put that 7.5m towards a larger buy for our left wing.

i like the option of Walcott, who's a Liverpool supporter by upbringing (not an Arsenal fan) and isn't getting enough playing time at Arsenal. he's very fast, inventive, with good technical ability. he would probably be expensive but eminently buyable. an interesting long-term option, at the least.

If we're going to raid Chelski, I'd take Malouda instead of Kalou.

Kalou is talented, but raw. There's some Gudjohnsen potential there in that he might be a good player in one league, but not the Liga.

Bargain price, though.

I read in his wikipedia article that while playing for feyenoord he scored 35 goals in 67 appearances and 7 in 14 for ivory coast. Van Basten and Cruijff regarded him very highly and for that price I wouldnt be surprised to see him at camp nou in the near future. I say we give him a chance as a sub, buy another center mid, and start iniesta on the wing.

Off topic: I read Giovinco may be moving to arsenal this january for more playing time. Does that mean Cesc is coming home?

I'm pretty sure that price is paper talk. I guess he would cost close to 15 million.

Don't know about him. He was very promising at Feyenoord, but couldn't confirm in the EPL (so far). I actually don't think he's a guy for a 4-3-3. In that perspective I would also prefer Malouda. Although I think none of two are a sure value and we could spend the money more wisely.

gys, he is by so far better than malouda for barcelona, Malouda is a wide wing who only run by the line, and even though Barcelona need that, but they are actualy looking for a wing forward, not a classic wing, and thats y they didnt try to go for capel.
kalou is younger, more explosive, can run on the wing, and can cut inside and score goals! he is more skillful than the french guy.
I dont think chelsea will sell him for that price, but if they will be stupid enough to do so, I am sure that barcelona is smart enough to take that opportunity.

LOL, for once i agree with ramzi. Those were the points i was about to mention and the reason i thinkhe's talent resembles eto. Isay we go for it, especially since he's young and can be moulded into how exactly we want him to play.

Hey ramzi, wat do you think of our keeper? should we do something about that in the january window as well?
