Deal with Manchester on Pique

British tabloid The Daily Mail claims that Barcelona and Manchester United came to an agreement on the transfer of Manchester United central defender Gerard Piqué (21) over the weekend.

Barcelona would pay Manchester 5 million euro°, with another 2,5 million euro° depending on the matches the Catalan defender will play for Barcelona.

The deal between Barcelona and Piqué had already been closed before (read more here), with the player undergoing medical tests last week (read more here). Like was said before, it can now be expected that Piqué, who returns to the club he left four years ago, will be presented shortly after the Champions League final between Manchester United and Chelsea on Wednesday.

Barcelona sports director Txiki Begiristain admitted todat at a press conference that Barcelona is indeed trying to bring the youth product back to Barcelona: "We are interested in Piqué and the negotiations are well-advanced."

Note:

both main Madrid sports tabloids claim that Garay has signed for Real Madrid (transfer fee: 10-11 million euro).

To what you mentioned Pep, I'll believe it when it comes official. The possibility of missing out on Garay hurts. Add to that losing him to Real Madrid makes it a doubly tough pill to swallow! I just can't believe that transfer fee to be correct because wasn't Racing asking more from Barcelona initially for him? Sounds a bit fishy to me. Unless there's a player or other details involved which we don't know about yet. If the transfer fee is indeed correct there's realy no excuse for Barcelona to have passed him over. But I'll wait patiently until it becomes official and all the details are released. In the meantime let's all keep our fingers crossed that it's not true!

Madrid president Calderon has confirmed the transfer (and the fee of 10 million) today. (Which isn't really official, but close.) It's nevertheless not yet clear if he will come this summer or next summer.

Well I guess that makes it 1-0 Real Madrid over Barcelona on the transfers so far in my book. While I feel Pique "could" develop into a very nice player. There's no doubt that I would have taken Garay over him if I had to choose between the two players "right now"...It's time for Barca to step it up now and finally put the speculation to rest and get Alves! Time to even things up at 1-1.

Barca should have get them both! Plus it is better to see more home players.
And GET ALVES!!!
