Bayern rejects offer for Ribery

Catalan sports paper Sport claims that German champions Bayern Munich have rejected an offer from Barcelona for wing attacker and French international Franck Ribéry (24), who was Barcelona's first winger's choice.

Because future Barcelona manager Josep Guardiola thinks that the wings attackers are an essential part of the system he wants to play next season, the former Barcelona captain has stressed the need to bring in at least one top class winger.

Sport claims that Barcelona has therefore contacted the clubs of the three players who are now on top the list: Arsenal strikers Robin van Persie (24) and Theo Walcott (19) and Valencia left winger David Silva (22) (read more here). The club hopes to close a deal with one of those players as soon as possible.

^^ Well said my friend. One can only imagine what "could" have been had Barcelona gone after him instead of Henry. The thought of having Eto'o down the middle and Messi and Ribery on the wings could have been a devastating combination. If only Barca had the wherewithal to see that Ribery was a more "natural" wing player and that Henry could only play up front down the middle will be a decision I'm sure Laporta and The Board will sorely regret.

Break the bank and get Silva. ribery is a natural right winger and while he can play on the left he is not as effective. silva on the other hand is a natural left winger who also has great versatility. add to that the fact that he already has much experience playing in spain and would want to leave valencia because of internal conflicts, silva should be at the moment barcelona's highest priority.
