I don't "buy" what Barca is selling about holding onto Marquez because he fits Pep's style. Marquez has shown to be horribly inconsistent, not to mention the off and on injuries. I think it has more to do with Barca either not willing to pony up the money for a "quality" central defender OR simply that if they sign Alves (and another player or two, i.e. attacking midfielder, left winger) they may just not have enough money left over to fill the position adequately. Trust me when I say that Marquez is NOT the answer! This team sorely needs to bring in TWO centre backs/central defenders if you ask me.
Anonumous... I dont trust you when you say Marquez is not the answer. Barca is not looking for answers, Marquez has already proved himself as a part of the backbone of Barca. You said it... INJURIES. If you are so analytic and you want people to trust you, then you would know that the answer is a GOOD physical trainer for the team. Think!
