Guardiola yet to sign his contract

Although Barcelona president Joan Laporta announced the appointment of current Barcelona B manager Josep Guardiola (37) as new Barcelona manager at a press confrence last week, the renewed contract has not yet been signed.

On Wednesday, Barcelona sports vice president Marc Ingla and Barcelona sports director Txiki Begiristain met with Josep María Orobitg, the agent of the former Barcelona captain, to discuss the matter. Catalan radio station Ona FM claims that it has been agreed that Guardiola will sign a two-year deal.

Madrid sports tabloid AS claims that the negotiations now mainly concern the salary of the new manager. Guardiola thinks he should be paid taking into account the new responsibility he is being given and the pressure the job brings along. A new meeting is scheduled in the days to come.

Although the signing would appear to be a mere formality I hope Guardiola isn't starting to have delusions of grandeur expecting to be paid like some of the more established coaches out there? Certainly he deserves a significant "bump" in salary from having coached the "B" squad. But considering he is just getting his "feet wet" with the big boys now,he realy is in no position to call the shots or make exorbitant demands as far as his salary goes.

As is just trying to create something. Guardiola has other things on his mind rght now, so that's why it takes its time. BUt of course he should be rewarded properly.
