The Catalan, who has been training with the squad for a week, got injured during a training session on Wednesday 7 January and was then expected to be out for seven to ten days (read more here).

If it wasn't for Milito, we would again have no injured players... I don't know if it's just luck or Pepp's program is working already, but it sure is impressive.
Along with Pep, Txiki and Laporta brought in a whole new medical staff. Messi has complimented the diet that he claims has made him fit unlike last year.
Besides, it doesn't seem like it, but the new methods for fitness that are used starting at 2008 are MUCH MORE effective than the ones in 2006 and below. For example, Xavi had a very large lay-off due to his torn knee ligaments. You guys noticed it took until early 2008 to regain his form he had before his injury, right? That's because the rehab for retorn ligaments with the methods of 2006 and before takes one year to heal, and another year to have a fully functioning and normal knee. That means that for about 1-2 years, Xavi still had a gimped knee. Very dangerous, eh? Now, the new method takes 1 to 1 1/2 years to regain full functionality of the knee.
The point of that paragraph was to show that Barcelona's old staff was not up to date on the new medical findings during the years that they were active. This led to the horrible amount of injuries last season. Now, we have much less freak injuries thanks to the new medical methods used by the new staff. Sports medicine evolves fast, huh?
