[2008] Giovani four more years

this post was published exactly one year ago:

In an interview with Catalan sports paper Sport Barcelona forward Giovani Dos Santos (18) denied that his contract expires at the end of this season or that he wants to renegotiate his contract, like has been rumoured in recent months.

Although the player says he has some more years to go but that he doesn’t know when his contract actually ends, Giovani is now believed to be linked with Barcelona until 2012. As a result of that, the Mexican is not thinking about a new contract: “I don’t care about a renewal. I’m feeling very happy and relaxed with the contract I have at present, so I don’t see a reason to sit around the table now. The only thing I care about is playing and growing as a footballer.”

Good guy to rest Messi every now and then. If the teams starts to play better, i guess we'll see the best Giovani.

too bad he left us, i think it was more his agent pushing it then himself. all he wanted was to get more playing time, oh well, he just said in an interview that he wants to come back to barcelona

I see why he would leave... if you recall correctly, he said that he was told by Juande Ramos that he would be Tottenham's "number 10" and the opportunity to be a standout vs. working your way up at Barca... he thought the first option would be best for him.

You have to feel sorry for the guy, nobody knew that Ramos' squad would bomb and that Redknapp would believe so little in Gio. It's not because Gio was too egotistic, it's because he wanted to keep on growing. Oh well, at least he scored a killer goal yesterday

I cant even hide my feelings for this kid...I watched him again play yesterday. and he scored a wonderful goal. I hope he comes back home to restart his career. I am sure now he has learned his lesson

His first and only season in the first-team he made 38 apperances. And he wanted to leave for more playing time? Stupid little kid, hope you never come back.

12 matches so far in a team that very well could be relegated.

Personally I think there is 1 and only 1 reason he left. MONEY!

Gio should have never left!
The only who should have in my opinion was Deco.
He's the Riquelme type that is lazy but brilliant at times. Also Deco is bad tackler (just look at his amount of cards) and he has a big mouth.
I do miss his perfect (side-switching or deep) long balls though.
