Catalan sports paper Sport reports that Barcelona forward Lionel Messi (21) didn't participate in the first part of yesterday's training session.
After the Sporting game, Messi had some minor muscle troubles and the staff therefore decided to give the player some personal and specific exercises aiming to avoid overburdening and more serious problems. After that, Messi joined his team-mates for the rest of the session.
It is believed that the problems are under control now and that Messi will be in perfect conditions to play against Sporting Gijón on Sunday.

we depend on MEssi this summer we can afford messi been out like last years matches... if messi was their we have probably one cope del rey or and tied all the matches we lost with out him
I like this. I hope that all of the players are getting this treatment. Preventive training is simply modern athletic science. That whole "play the game and douse the injury with magic water" stuff is just nonsense.
I'm liking the Guardiola program more and more.
ponnykid I am one of the BIG messi fans, but I don't see barcelona depending on messi the way you mean it, of course he is an added value, one of the most talented on the planet, and a player who make the deference, but i see tactical improvement than last season, so its not an "individuals" contribution anymore, but a system applied by the group.
In brief barcelona count on him, but they are not dependent on him. As the Sporting game proved in CL, the team can win even if he wasn't there or played badly, next game he will not be there so we will have a better idea.
I think Messi played quite badly in recent matches. He held the ball too much and passed the ball badly. These are his weeknesses. As a real playmaker, he should improve in these aspects. However, he is still very young and i'm sure he can improve. Anyway, he has improved in some movement.
One positive thing is that in spite of the poor form of messi, Barca plays a good football. It is good that Barca is not too dependent on Messi.
