Barcelona manager Josep Guardiola has yesterday announced the list of 18 players for the first game of this season's Champions League group stage against Sporting Lisbon this evening.
The list:
Valdés, Pinto,
Alves, Márquez, Piqué, Puyol, Cáceres, Sylvinho,
Xavi, Touré, Keita, Iniesta, Gudjohnsen,
Messi, Eto'o, Bojan, Henry, Pedro
With Henry, Márquez, Cáceres and Sylvinho re-entering the squad list, Abidal and Víctor Sánchez are not included, like is Barcelona Atlètic player Busquets. Jorquera, Hleb and Milito are not available because of injuries.
This morning at 11 am bt, Barcelona has a last training session.

Finally Abidal got what he deserved!!!!
...i like abidal however...what we have here is a choice between the bad and the worse...sylvinho is another flop...
Sylvinho is no flop!
He at least will be much better offensively than Abidal, he kicks great crosses.
I confess to not understanding the Abidal hatred. He makes mistakes. Every player on the side does. He's made mistakes that have resulted in goals. So has every last member of that back line.
He's our fastest, most stamina-rich defender. I can't see Sylvinho coming too far forward, lest he get caught up the pitch and because of his lack of pace, not be able to get back.
I'm trusting Guardiola on this one, but sacrificing defense for offense when we are already so attack-rich....I dunno.
The defence was brilliant...without this joker. Id like to see this line up we saw vs Sporting more often.
