Decision on Eto'o in the coming week

Asked about the situation of Barcelona forward and Cameroonian international Samuel Eto'o (27), Barcelona sports director Txiki Begiristain has said to journalists that the best thing would be to have a fial decision in the week to come:

"The days are going by and the market is starting to close. The best solution would be to make a decision before the Champions League qualifying matches. We're now in the process of looking at the reactions and especially analyzing how Guardiola is dealing with the group and the player."

I agree... I'd like to be in the room when this conversation goes down...

"Yeah... ummm... Sam... we'd actually really like you to stay since we can't find anyone else..."

Having a close look on eto personality make me feel he may decide he want to leave directly after the club announce that they want to keep him.
he feel insulted by the fact that the team listed him as a nonwelcomed player, and he will slap back so the club crwal despiritly for him to stay.
one thing to keep in mind is that the team havent played against teams with closed compact deffence yet in friendlies, and thats exactly where eto has a problem to score.
Knowing that this is one of the reasons that made pep seek big target man instead make me feel that the team will welcome the fact that eto performance in friendlies will actualy promote him to be sold more than encourage the team to keep him.
"IF" they found a way to sell, i dont think they will hesitate.

So far Eto'o's been saying all the right things and showing commitment to the club. But knowing how prideful and sensitive the man is do you actually believe that is he going to be a calming influence on the team and be on his best behavior next season? Especially after the team exhausted all their efforts to send him packing? From what I know of the man I think not!

Eto'o takes offense to even the most minute slight against him. He wears his emotions on his sleeve and is never at a loss for words when it comes to describing how he feels at the moment- even if it's to the detriment of the team.

Sure, if Eto'o remains at the club I'm sure Pep will just have to "deal with it" and make the best of the situation. But that would leave Eto'o essentially as an "outcast" - remaining in a place where he is no longer wanted, but having no other place to go. Very sad indeed.

Eto'o is magnificant, if they sell him it will be a big mistake...he's our best striker, and did you see him and Bojan connect?!!! come on now....Keep Eto'o

Henry has yet to impress me so i say bench Henry and have Bojan Eto'o and Messi in the front!

Eto'o did exactly what he had to do to screw the team and stay in Barcelona. I respect his talent and love what he's done for Barca, but that's just not cool. Now, the only striker left on the market is Berbatov who, as it has been said, is not that Guardiola kind of "9."

At this point, there isn't anyone available who is better. There was (to fit that Guardiola mold), but Drogba and Adebayor have both been locked up by their respective sides.

I'm sure that Pep has such fond memories of feeding Kluivert, who was big, strong AND fast.

kxevin..... ummm kluivert couldnt hit water with a boat far less the back of the net.... guardiola probably has nightmares of kluivert.

Kxevin you feel Kluivert was fast, then Queen Elizabeth is going to win the olympic 100 meters. Good joke mate.
