Silva prefers to stay

Asked about the situation of Valencia left winger and Spanish international David Silva (22), Silva's agent Julio Llorente has said to journalists yesterday that the player wants to stay but suggested that Silva would like to see his contract renewed:

"He wants to stay with Valencia. We'll see what will happen but his first option is to stay here. If there would appear other options, we will look at them but at his moment he's very comfortable at this club.

If in the next days something would come up that could change this plan, we'll analyze it and make a decision. David wants to stay and he has a contract. A lot of clubs have shown interest for him, so he wants Valencia to take that into account and show him what he's worth to them, which is normal.

It's logical that other clubs are looking at him since he has played two very good seasons, he played very well at the European championship, which of course leads to offers. But we haven't really looked at them because Valencia has his transfer rights and if they don't say anything to us, he's a Valencia player for the next five years."

Valencia regional radio station LP Punto Radio claims that Valencia has received formal offers from Barcelona, Atlético Madrid and AS Roma but that the club has rejected to start talks and made clear that they don't want to sell the left winger.

Valencia president Vicente Soriano confirmed the wish of the club to journalists: "We're gonna tell his agents that we want Silva to stay with us. I don't think there will be any problems but we're going to talk. Let's see what the result will be." Today a new meeting between the club and the player's agents was scheduled.

Asked about the rumours linking Silva with a move to Barcelona (read more here), Barcelona sports director Txiki Begiristain has admitted to journalists today that Silva could be an option: "It's a good and interesting player, but not only for us, but also for foreign teams. There are no negotiations ongoing cause Valencia is still thinking about its position and no talks have been started."

Time is running out, guess it's time to start looking at other options cause it's a risk to bring in no one for that left wing spot.

imao...barca shouldn`t go for silva if he really wants to stay at valencia...there is no use for a player that is not willing to play for the club that wnats him

We better use Pedro or Jeffren for the left wing

Not sure if Pedro could make the transition, but he'd be a good one to try.

What ever happened to the Neves rumors? has it died down due to the upcoming Olympics?

At last check I believe Palacio was still available. He can play as a winger or secondary striker, and he's more of a threat to score than Silva, and would come at a much lower pricetag.

I'm a big fan of Andres Guardado, he may be small in stature but his game is large and only going to get better. Yeah, I already know what you're going to say...another midget, thanks but no thanks.

As far as Pedro and Jeffren go they are nowhere near ready to be thrown to the the wolves. They need to be brought along slowly and deliberately.

I still believe that he is the ideal option for the left wing position for Barcelona but if we can't get Silva, i would start to look at Thiago Neves from Fluminese as soon as possible as the next best option for a left winger out there .If Barcelona could get Neves then i would use Pedro or Jeffren as backups for that position to keep bringing through youngsters from the cantera system, that is just my opinion but i would really like Barcelona to get David Silva first, he would give our squad alot of variation.Que mes un club.

Come on Barca!!! Sign him as quick as possible. Time's running out. He's a really good player. And now his price had dropped to 25 mil euro.

Silva wants a better contract at Valencia. If they can't or aren't willing to give him what he asks, then he'll leave for sure.

don't know if im just drunk as just got back from pub but its sounds like silva is staying loyal to valencia if they dont decided to sell him but also leaving the door open to moving on? i really hink we should get him as there are no better options for LFW am=nd that is a position we relly need a player for.
pep do you know of any more news on neves?
would be great to see barca buying young players with potential (neves) mixed with cantera players (pedro and jeffren)

and arshavin is goind to sign at tottenham within the next days. shit.

it's worse enough that the new left winger has not played the last friendly games and could not take part in training.

time is ticking away mr. manager.

Nothing new on Neves, sjp, which was a very unreliable rumour (few concrete elements) in the first place I have to say.

Silva and Arshavin were/are clearly the two main (and actually almost the only) options for that left wing attacking position.

thanks pep, better hope we get silva then.

Arshavin would back out of the deal in a heartbeat if we made Zenit a respectable offer. if we don't, that's surely the biggest wasted opportunity of the summer. we're focused with such tunnel vision on a central striker we're missing opportunities on a position we truly do need, the left wing.

2 B-teamers aren't a suitable alternative, unless Bojan suddenly discovers his ability on the left. Pedro and Jeffren aren't going to cut it; we need a true, first-choice starting left winger. Arshavin is easily the best option, and we're missing him. Silva was never going anywhere.
