British tabloid The Daily Express claims that Barcelona is still interested in signing Tottenham forward and Bulgarian international Dimitar Berbatov (27).
Barcelona thinks that the good relationship they built up with Tottenham during the negotiations that saw Giovani dos Santos move to the English Premier League earlier this summer will work to their advantage.
It is believed that Tottenham would be prepared to accept an offer of around 30 million euro° in order to sell Berbatov abroad, rather than accepting a Manchester United bid.

I personally wouldnt min buying this guy. He would definately give us more options. But not @ Sammy's xpense. I say keep the 3 we have and get hi. Sell Titi next year. And you might want to ask how would he (Berba) feel not starting every game, He knows hes joing Barca and no longer Spurs, How did Henry feel? How did Tevez feel when benched at Man U after saving westham's season, when u stepup to a bigger club you know you cant start every game except you are a MESSI, R10 (not R80), C. RONALDO who cant single handedly win a game.

I think eto-henry-Bojan-Berba will be too many to compete on one position.
If eto and henry stay, then it will not be practical to get berba, may be crespo (who already face similar competetion in Inter and inter is welling to offload for cheap. he can play the larsson role comming from the bench when needed.
May not be a charming option, but for me thats the most practical in the current siyuation (IF barca still seek an inbox target man.
It's impossible that Berbatov comes and all the others stay. They've clearly said four centre forwards is too much to handle and that a new guy will only come in if Samu leaves.
I would rather swtich henry and some cash for berbatov. berbatov eto'o and bojan would be great

Offload Sammyboy and get Berba. Berba will be a great choice given the fact that he can play with his back against the goal. It will be a good thing for Barca especially since we have good relations with Spurs and the coach is convinced that Sammy should be shipped out if there is a chance..
Berbatov is lazy, so how could drill instructor Guardiola be interested in him??? It doesn't make sense.

yesterday guardiola said he would hold on to eto and today they are still interested in berbatov? if one striker comes another one has to go. save the money for next year's transfer of benzema or aguero. 30 mio eur, that's not less.
What about a guy like Dean Ashton from the Hammers? He's 6'3" (1.89m) and is a decent finisher. He'd probably be cheaper than Berbatov anyway and he's younger. I think that West Ham needs the money.
we're never going to spend so much money unless eto'o is still sold... which doesn't seem likely so concentrate on silva or arshavin and then the spuad is completed!
I would have imagined Barcelona would have sold Eto'o first to finance a move for Berbatov. Adding Berbatov while keeping Eto'o and Henry alongside doesn't make much sense. I would much rather Barcelona invest in a left winger and stay the course as far as the striking tandem of Eto'o/Henry goes and cross my fingers on Benzema next season.
One thing is clear, even though both players have two years left on their contracts (Eto'o and Henry) one of them, if not both, will surely be gone next season. There is the very real possibility that Bojan will be the only striker kept on the team while Barcelona scrambles to add more depth during the 09/10 summer transfer window.
I think it would be foolish of them to sell Eto'o at a clearance price without securing a talent like Benzema first. Even if Eto'o posted a brilliant season, the likelyhood of him receiving an extension at the club is almost nill as long as Guardiola is at the helm. Keep in mind that Guardiola "inherited" Eto'o, and it's clear he's not Pep's preferred choice.
The only way I can see Eto'o remaining at the club (at least until his contract is up, or he receives an extension)is if he can convince Laporta (if he's still around) and Txivi that he's more valuable to the club than without him. Which could lead to a rift between upper management and Guardiola, with Pep feeling he is "forced" to keep certain players against his wishes, to the detriment of his preferred "system". All speculation of course but something to consider nontheless.
