Barcelona president Joan Laporta has announced that the club's General Assembly will be held on Sunday 24 August.
This year the assembly will not only vote on the budget of the club but will also decide on Laporta's continuity as chairman, like the president had proposed himself after narrowly escaping an exit when a vote of no confidence was held last month which lead to half of the board resigning.

hm...surprising counter attack...probably laporta think only poor members support him, so they will be the only members in barca by that time while the rest will be self exciled in their vacations:)
its an evil approach but its legal,so as the referundom was at first place so...fair enough i guess;)
All's fair in love, war and board politics, right? Anyone who feels strongly enough to want Laporta gone will interrupt their precious holiday to do the deed.
If they can't be bothered, then they don't want him gone badly enough.
Let's not forget he didn't have to do this. He won the confidence vote (by not losing it hard enough, so to say), so he could have just go on from that point.
When there were rumours about doing it in September, you ahd people saying that this was too far away and that he was buying him some time so people should forget about his win-loss in the July vote. So you'll always have complaints.
If you would have asked me a couple of weeks ago I would have thought Laporta's goose was cooked. But now, in light of how well the team has played in preseason, how well the new signings have performed, (particularly Hleb and Alves), and that our "beloved" Eto'o is staying, I'm not so sure that Laporta is going to be voted down.
At least he has a 50/50 chance of staying or better, which is a hell of a lot better odds than he had following the vote of no confidence results. I wouldn't be the least bit surprised to see him ride this thing out to the conclusion of his term with the club.
I am not against laporta in what he did, as u know (from my previous comments in this blog)I was always more suportive to Laporta side ,he has the right to stay till he finish his period, and all that mess wasnt reasonable, i was just comenting on the way things went:)
