Barcelona will offer Eto'o in Chivu deal

British broadcaster Channel 4 claims that Barcelona will tempt Italian champions Inter Milan to sell central defender Cristian Chivu by offering Barcelona forward and Cameroon international Samuel Eto’o (27) in exchange (read more here).


Barcelona hopes this offer could make Inter change their mind about not wanting to sell the Romanian international. Inter is one of the main candidates to take over Samuel Eto'o, who is valued at around 25 million euro°.

I don't see how this makes any sense for Inter? Unless they are planning to offload some players. They currently have a boatload of options up front. It's overkill if you ask me. I could also see them possibly throwing Adriano into the deal along with Chivu. I know Adriano's name has been linked before with a move to Barcelona. The other option mentioned is a straight striker swap of Eto'o for Ibrahimovic but I feel Barcelona would be losing out on that deal because Eto'o's a better player in my opinion. If only we could ship Eto'o to Werder Bremen for Diego. Although I doubt very much Eto'o would agree to that since he's stated he would only go to England or Italy. At least he would get to play Champions League football if he joined, which is more than you can say about AC Milan and Tottenham.
