Messi will never join Real Madrid

Asked about the rumours that the presidential elections in Madrid in the summer could cause Barcelona right wing attacker and Argentinian international Lionel Messi (21) to join Real Madrid, the player's father and agent Jorge Messi has rejected the idea in an interview with Catalan sports paper El Mundo Deportivo:

"Leo is doing good, he feels happy and appreciated at Barcelona and he's one of the leaders of the team.

He has the last word on this and he's happy at the Camp Nou. So they can talk all they want in Madrid. I'm just saying that Leo is the only one who will decide on his future and he feels very, very, very comfortable in Barcelona. Leo is happy in Barcelona and he will never go to Real Madrid."

pep's opinion:
there was some buzz on this story for a few days but since it all started with an irrelevant quote of arrigo sacchi saying that if florentino pérez will be candidate in the madrid elections, he sure will go after the best players in the world (including messi, mister sacchi? well, he's one of the best at the moment. ok, thanks for that, xavi, what do you think about messi possibly becoming the next figo? pep? mister laporta?), i didn't report on it so far. the same goes for the guardiola-eto'o story, by the way.

The Gaurdiola-Eto'o story seems to have been substantiated with Xavi referring to it in a later interview.

This one sounds atrocious from what you have to say about its origins though. Lemme guess is it Marca and AS who are building this one up from scratch ?

I have to mention though that the statements of his Dad are not exactly unequivocal. Rather he seems to be very careful about his wording making a reference only to the present situation and also indicating that as for the future a choice still exists although he is happy at present.

I don't see anything unequivocal about "he will never go to Real Madrid"...

I heard the commentator of the espanol game mention the bust up with pep and etoo and laporta supposedly defended etoo in either AS or Marca. I just laugh when i see this story. If it were inter or an english team with deep pockets i would be more concerned as messi said he may like to try serie A at some stage in his career. However he isnt going anywhere right now.

Just madrid's media machine trying to launch the usual propaganda when they are behind. I've noticed it happens every time barca are a better team, the madrid media start making up stories to try to unsettle the barca team.So barca fans; sleep easily messi is not going to madrid. Figo was not brought through the youth system of the club and had no debt of gratitude to the club as messi does.

refte read the last line
"Leo is happy in Barcelona and he will never go to Madrid."

Does this mean he isnt playing in the 2nd clasico? LOL sorry could not help myself.Sorry atletico looks like you have no chance either (as if the had a chance in the first place LOL)

I highly doubt that Messi will ever pull a "Figo". Whatever his reasons were back then - you should never join a bitter Rival like that.

awww pep changed the last line
"Leo is happy in Barcelona and he will never go to Real Madrid."

Now my joke isnt funny anymore

Does this mean he may still go to atletico?(when pigs fly and raul, guti and casillas join barca under new barca president ramon calderon) LOL.

In Spanish they refer to "Real Madrid" when they talk about "Madrid". When they say "Real", that's "Real Sociedad". "Atlético Madrid" is "Atlético". So just to clear things out...

Figo moves to Barca when he was a 23 and Nessi as a young boy, 13 years.

It is a big different. Messi grows up as a child in the city and has more feeeling for the tradition in Barcelona.

Second - Figo moves to Real Marid when los blancos dominated the fotboll enourmostly.
Many superstars considered Madrid as the last station för their carrier.

But today it is not like that anymore. First of all Barca became a even bigger club then for 10 years ago.
And there are also the english clubs that grabe more and more players from the south.
The big four from Italy also can be there.

Madrid is no longer the absolut last station.
