Van Persie to replace Henry next summer

British tabloid The Daily Mail claims that Barcelona is lining up Arsenal winger and Dutch international Robin van Persie (25) to take over from Barcelona forward and French international Thierry Henry (31) next season.

Barcelona believes that Henry will prefer a move back to England to be closer to his daughter.

Van Persie, who has a contract with Arsenal until 2011 but would find the chance to join Barcelona hard to resist, fits the left-sided attacking role Barcelona is seeking.

Van Persie is a great player but his always injured. But i wouldnt say no to him if Henry left

this would be one of the stupidest signings i could imagine us to do. if any one thinks this is remotely a good idea, u dont know shit about football. not because he is a poor player, but because he does not fit out style at all, is always injured, and would do horribly if given that left sided forward role.

I agree with kimh. but with messi and v persie who are really fragile it will be hard! But very talented guy, i like the way he shoots a lot.

Thierry Henry to Miami in 2010.

Van Persie is a very good player, no doubt about that. I just don't see him as a left winger. Also, the fact that he is injury prone doesn't exactly work to his advantage. I say no.

Van Persie is world class. And he's scored some pretty stunning goals from wing play. He's quick, dynamic and would be a good fit, because he's adaptable. He shows better with his national side because they play a similar attacking style to ours, that features player positional fluidity.

As for his injuries, I think some of that is the Arsenal system. Look at the number of players they have or have had injured this season. You have to wonder.

Guardiola's emphasis on nutrition, preventive training and modern medical staff have made a difference this season. With the exception of Milito, every player who has been injured for us has returned early or on schedule. Players with a history of knocks haven't had them this season. It's early days, but I think it speaks to the Guardiola program. No reason it couldn't have the same effect on Van Persie.

Which doesn't keep me from thinking that the rumor is so much nonsense. Arsenal isn't selling anybody in the near future, particularly him. And if they do, about the only player of theirs I could see us going for (outside of Fabregas) is Theo Walcott.

waste of money, plain and simple. Maybe if they do sign him they can make up the contract so that he pays his own medical bills and also only get paid in proportion to the time he spends on the field. Even with all that I dont think he is worth it.
