Catalan sports paper Sport claims that Barcelona attacking midfielder and Spanish international Xavi (28) will sign his contract renewal today.
Barcelona president Joan Laporta and Barcelona sports director Txiki Begiristain would return from Japan today. Since a deal was already agreed upon on 28 November (read more here), the contract is ready to be signed.
Xavi will extend his current contract, that expires in 2010, until the summer of 2014. The Catalan midfielder will have a year salary of 7,5 million euro plus incentives, which would make him earn around as much as Thierry Henry, with only Lionel Messi and Samuel Eto'o being better paid.
Catalan sports paper El Mundo Deportivo claims that both Xavi and Sergio Busquets could sign their contract renewals on Monday.
