Guardiola could quit as manager in 2010

Catalan sports paper Sport claims that Barcelona manager Josep Guardiola will only stay on as coach for two years at the most.

Guardiola is that dedicated to his work and puts that much time and effort in it, that he doesn't think he will be able to keep this rhythm going longer than 2010.

After that, Guardiola would be willing to take up another task at the club and could become the successor of Barcelona sports director Txiki Begiristain. The latter could leave the club together with president Joan Laporta in 2010, but Guardiola would want to have more decision power if he becomes sports director.

The future of Guardiola could depend on the outcome of the presidential elections in 2010, although all probable candidates seem to have a good relationship with Guardiola and would want him to stay at the club for a longer period.

even if he leaves in 2010 i will be very grateful for what he has done. he has given barca fans hope and a reason to smile again. I hope he stays beyond 2010 though.

Maybe Guardiola is one of those guys who think of leaving on a high note (with titles & trophies that is)....
although why this kind of talk at this present moment of the season is baffling (we are only near halfway of the season).

Should be the kind of talk/rumour after the season's ended. IMO it might cause some doubts since the club have been making renewals to some of the players and some others yet to do so as well.

If Guardiola goes, I want Laudrup. He's got the right attitude, and wants to play the kind of football, we all want barca to play.

But you can say the same about Guardiola, which is why I hope he'll stay.

Abuur says, Pep has been one of the best coach in barca in its history, with all confidence and trust that he had in the players, i would suggest he gets an extension of his current contract even though the big heads will be leaving, viva pep !!!!!!
