Barcelona has today officially announced that Barcelona attacking midfielder and Spanish international Xavi (28) has signed this afternoon a contract renewal that will link him to the club until 2014 and includes a buyout clause of 80 million euro°. The former contract of the Catalan midfielder expired in the summer of 2010.
Barcelona president Joan Laporta, the player's agent Ivan Corretja, Barcelona sports vice-president Rafael Yuste, Barcelona board member Albert Perrín, Barcelona chief executive Joan Oliver, Barcelona sports director Txiki Begiristain, and Barcelona general director of football Raül Sanllehí assisted the signature of the Catalan player.
Xavier Hernández Creus joined Barcelona in 1991 and was promoted to the first team at the end of the year 1998.
