Mexico stumbled into the final stage of the CONCACAF zone FIFA World Cup qualifiers on goal difference on Wednesday, despite losing 1-0 to Honduras and having two players sent off.
Honduras tops the group with 12 points, followed by Mexico and Jamaica on ten each. Mexico sneaked through on goal difference despite Jamaica's 3-0 win over Canada in Kingston.
Barcelona central defender Rafael Márquez played the whole game as captain of the Mexican national team and got booked.
1. Honduras 12
2. Mexico 10
3. Jamaica 10
4. Canada 2
The three goup winners and the three runners-up will form one group. The top 3 teams qualify for the 2010 World Cup. The 4th placed team enters a home-and-away playoff with the 5th placed South-American team.
