British tabloid The Sun claims that English Premier League clubs Newcastle and West Ham are interested in Barcelona attacker and Iceland international Eidur Gudjohnsen (29). The player can leave Barcelona this summer and would like to return to England.
West Ham manager Alan Curbishley already tried to sign Gudjohnsen last year. Newcastle manager Kevin Keegan would want the Icelander to replace striker Obafemi Martins. The tabloid claims that Gudjohnsen would cost around 5 million euro°.
Asked about the rumours linking the player with a return to the Premier League, Arnor Gudjohnsen, the father and agent of the player, confirmed the English interest to British sports website BBC Sport and said that Gudjohnsen is considering his future: "One Premier League club has shown a lot of interest in Eidur. He would certainly be interested in a move back to England, but he is not going to rush into making a decision. Eidur and his family are settled in Barcelona and he has two years left on his contract, but his chances were limited last season."

5 million euro =
8 million us dollar
4 million british pound
I would say 8 to 10 m. 5 is nothing..
jordy
why barca sell players so cheap, like Guily years back for 3 million.and we buy them so costly. Not good!!!
Giuly's contract expired a year later, so that was all we could get for an older player. Guess Roma now even thinks they paid too much for Giuly, since they already want to sell him again after only one season...
I agree that 5mil Euro seems a bit low for him. But consider his age and the fact that he hasn't played much in the past couple of years and it's no surprise as to the less than lukewarm interest in him. The biggest stumbling block might be for a "mid level" team to satisfy his wage demands. I think Guddy needs to come to the realization that if he is going to play somewhere else he's going to have to accept a cut in pay. Instead of outright selling him for next to nothing, Barcelona might be better off including him as a throw in, in a cash + player swap deal with another club.
I still think it's a shame he hasn't cut it in Spain. Thought he was more than useful for Chelsea and Bolton. But when he's had the chance, he's either out of position or not given very long. Either way, he's not performed. Can maybe see him at Man City, who can afford his wages.
