Guardiola holds on to Henry

Catalan sports paper El Mundo Deportivo claims that future Barcelona manager Josep Guardiola has decided that Barcelona forward and French international Thierry Henry (30) can stay at the club after meeting with the striker a few days ago.

Since the new manager wants to work with motivated people, he wanted to speak to Henry first hand and left the meeting convinced that Henry is ready to prove he can also make it in Spain. With several key players leaving, the experience of the Frenchman could be important next season.

Guardiola sees Henry as an option for the left wing position. With Iniesta and possibly Hleb as alternatives for that position, the arrival of Valencia left winger David Silva wouldn't be a necessity anymore (read more here).

Guardiola meanwhile plans to keep individual meetings with more players before the season starts. He already talked with Puyol and Iniesta before they joined the Spanish national team and visited Milito in the hospital where the Argentinian was recovering from an operation.
